According to whatsonstage.com, Andrew Lloyd Webber's son, Nick Lloyd Webber, has recently completed writing a new, high-scale musical entitled THE LITTLE PRINCE. Based on the classic French book, THE LITTLE PRINCE will be an English interpretation of the well-known story. The younger Lloyd Webber is hoping to premiere the project in the of Winter 2010/11 and is cureently seeking a venue.

Nick Lloyd Webber has been given the green light to develop THE LITTLE PRINCE by the Saint-Exupéry Estate and publishers, Editions Gallimar. Lloyd Webber's new work features a continuation of the partnership with Austrailian director and composer, Mick Gordon. The two are gearing up for their production of THE TEMPEST, playing June 9-18, for the Oxford Shakespeare Company. THE TEMPEST is part of the celebration for the Company's, 400th anniversary, in addition to the 400th anniversary of Wadham College where the Oxford Shakespeare Company was born. THE LITTLE PRINCE will follow yet another one of Lloyd Webber and Gordon's productions: their new play, BEA, is set to run at the Soho Theatre in London December 1, 2010 thru January 8, 2011.

Written by Antoine De Saint-Exupery, THE LITTLE PRINCE tells the story of a pilot's unexpected crash landing in the Sahara Desert. While in the desert, the pilot meets the Little Prince --- a young boy from another planet. The Prince shares his unique adventures that he experienced while traveling throughout the solar system. The book has been adapted into 180 different languages, various musical interpretations (including a children's version), and a film.

No stranger to musical composition, Lloyd Webber has composed three previous scores for Oxford Shakespeare Company productions and has additionally composed for film and television.
