Wildlife Photographer Exhibit Coming To Royal Ontario Museum

By:

The world-renowned Wildlife Photographer of the Year (WPY) exhibition, on loan from the Natural History Museum in London, will open at the Royal Ontario Museum on November 12, 2016. The exhibition will feature 100 awe-inspiring images, from fascinating animal behavior to breath-taking wild landscapes.

Wildlife Photographer of the Year is the most prestigious photography event of its kind. For over 50 years, it has provided a global platform that showcases the natural world's most astonishing and challenging sights. The initial launch in 1965 received 361 entries. Today, the competition receives almost 50,000 entries from 96 countries, highlighting its enduring appeal. This year's 100 award-winning images will embark on an international tour that allows them to be seen by millions of people across six continents and will make a Canadian debut at the ROM.

The ROM will complement the exhibition with a full schedule of programs and events. A ROM Speaks lecture, An Evening with a Master: Paul Nicklen, takes place on November 22 at 7:00 pm and will feature leading marine biologist and photographer, Paul Nicklin. A fifteen-time WPY winner, National Geographic Photographer, Canadian born and Baffin Island raised, Nicklen has been documenting the beauty and the plight of Polar Regions and oceans around the world for over twenty years. This ROM Speaks event is presented in partnership with World Wildlife Fund Canada
