Stephen Fry's MYTHOS Makes World Premiere at the 2018 Shaw Festival Image

During a visit to Niagara-on-the-Lake earlier this year, world renowned actor, comedian and renaissance man Stephen Fry hinted that he'd return to the Shaw Festival in 2018. Tim Carroll, Artistic Director of The Shaw, will direct Mr. Fry in the world premiere of Mythos: A Trilogy - Gods. Heroes. Men. on the Festival Stage as part of the 2018 season.

"I had such an amazing time working with Stephen at the Globe," says Tim Carroll, Artistic Director of the Shaw Festival. "He has the most ridiculously huge brain; I can't wait to spend more time splashing around in it."

Based on Mr. Fry's upcoming book, Mythos: A Trilogy - Gods. Heroes. Men. is a trilogy of plays telling the stories of Ancient Greece, with Mr. Fry's witty and fresh take on everyone from Aphrodite to Zeus. With so much material at Mr. Fry's fingertips, he may sometimes need the audience to help him choose which tales to tell, as he takes the audience all the way from the creation of the cosmos to the stories of the Trojan War. Mythos: A Trilogy - Gods. Heroes. Men. is the perfect showcase for Mr. Fry's spontaneous wit and matchless ease as a storyteller.

"Thrilled to be putting this show together in Niagara-on-the-Lake and presenting it at the Shaw Festival for the 2018 season," says Stephen Fry. "The Festival's renowned history of bringing together spectacle, story and theatrical flair should be the perfect fit for these ancient, yet stunningly contemporary, stories. I am positively dribbling and drooling with anticipation."

Each part of Mythos: A Trilogy - Gods. Heroes. Men. will be a standalone piece - patrons can choose to see one, two or three parts. And Stephen Fry fanatics can choose to spend the weekend with him by booking one of the marathon offerings. ?

This is the second announcement about the Shaw Festival's 2018 season with news of The Magician's Nephew having been released in June. The rest of the 2018 season will be announced later this year along with box office information. Patrons wishing to get front-of-the-line access to Mythos: A Trilogy - Gods. Heroes. Men. can visit www.shawfest.com/mythos or call 1-800-657-1106 x 2556 to become Friends of The Shaw.
