Photo Flash: Manitoba Theatre Centre's NEXT TO NORMAL

Next to Normal is the Pulitzer Prize winning rock musical about a family struggling to deal with issues of grief, suicide, drug abuse and mental illness. With book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey and music by Tom Kitt, the show took Broadway by storm when in opened in April 2009. It was nominated for eleven Tony Awards and won three, including Best Original Score, Best Orchestration and Best Performance by a Leading Actress for Alice Ripley.

Next to Normal had its Canadian debut last summer in Toronto when Dancap Productions brought the US National Tour to The Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts, with Ms. Ripley reprising her role as Diana. Now, the Manitoba Theatre Centre is presenting an all Canadian production of their own, and BroadwayWorld is thrilled to bring its readers photos of the new production.

The production stars Jenn Lyon as Diana Goodman, JoNathan Cullen as Henry, Peter Deiwick as Dr. Madden/Dr. Fine, Steffi DiDomenicantonio as Natalie, Jan Skene as Diana Understudy, Liam Tobin as Gabe and Shawn Wright as Dan. The show opened last week and runs until May 12th, 2012 on the John Hirsch Mainstage.
