The Citadel Theatre's Artistic Director, Daryl Cloran, and Executive Director, Chantell Ghosh, announced today the Beyond The Stage (BTS) Series line-up for the 2018/19 Season. This year's series will include six outstanding presentations that push the boundaries of traditional theatre through experimentation; from shows that tell stories in song to a production in which the actor is handed the script for the first time when he or she steps on the stage. BTS even includes a project that takes place everywhere in the Citadel except the theatres. BTS 2018/19 features celebrated International Artists, local celebrities, exciting new work and the return of Made In Italy (back by popular demand!).

The series starts with Bridget Ryan's Oh What A Beautiful Morning ! She returns to her cabaret roots to explore over 15 wacky, unpredictable and extremely hilarious years working as the 'Remote Host' on morning television in the largest most northerly remote city in North America. Known for her unusual method of storytelling through rockin' song and story, Bridget will take you on a tour de force behind-the-scenes look at our obsession with TV, social media and introduce you to dozens of characters she's met over the years. The show runs in The Club October 19 and 20, 2018.

Next up is Alison MacDonald's Legends Of Carnegie Hall, taking place in The Club November 16 and 17. This Canadian songbird performs a musical celebration of the incredible women who have graced the stage at Carnegie Hall. An evening filled with stories and songs made famous by Patsy Cline, Judy Garland, Liza Minnelli, Bette Midler, Carole King, Ella Fitzgerald and more! Accompanied by a jazz trio and special guests, it will be a night to remember.

The New Year will kick off with Juno-nominated Nuela Charles January 18 and 19. Nuela is a Canadian singer/songwriter, known for her soulful vocals and captivating stage presence. Noted as " one to watch" by the legendary SoulTrain.com, and cited by U.K.'s Metro as "cocked, locked and ready to be shot onto the world stage with a soulful voice that may one day fill the Amy Winehouse-shaped holes in everyone's hearts," Nuela brings her distinct voice (and an incredible band) to heat up The Club. Recently nominated for a 2018 Juno Award for Adult Contemporary Album of the Year, Nuela is gearing up to release brand new music in 2018, beginning with her latest single "Do it Right. "

Just in time for Valentine's Day, Farren Timoteo returns to The Club with his hit one-person show, Made In Italy - a raucous coming of age story about an Italian teenager growing up in Jasper in the 1970s, caught between two worlds and determined to make his mark. Filled with great songs (Italian and Disco!) and delicious comedy, this is a not-to-be-missed tale about a kid with the heart of Rocky Balboa and the moves (and hair) of John Travolta. This production, running February 14 to 16, 2019, is in collaboration with Western Canada Theatre in Kamloops, B.C.

From March 27 to April 7, Theatre Yes will take over every space in the Citadel except the theatres. A theatrical experiment, this roving production will take you on a physical journey from opulent lobbies to the hidden underground caverns of the Citadel Theatre. Using non-theatre spaces at the Citadel, hard-boiled detective fiction, and interviews with magicians, police detectives, criminal lawyers, fact checkers, journalists, and psychics - SLIGHT OF MIND will shine a light on the nature of truth. This production is in collaboration with Theatre Yes.

To wrap up the season, Iranian playwright Nassim Soleimanpour brings an audacious new theatrical experiment to The Club. Each night a different performer joins the playwright on stage, while the script waits unseen in a sealed box ... Touchingly autobiographical yet powerfully universal, NASSIM is a striking theatrical demonstration of how language can both divide and unite us. NASSIM follows Soleimanpour's globally acclaimed White Rabbit Red Rabbit, which has been translated into over 25 different languages and performed over 1,000 times by names including Stephen Fry, Ken Loach and Whoopi Goldberg. This production runs April 30 to May 5, 2019, in The Club.

With risk-taking theatre, and exciting hybrids of story and song, the Citadel Theatre's 2018/19 Beyond the Stage Series is guaranteed to draw in new audience members and loyal patrons alike. The BTS Series Packages go on sale today and are just $170, plus fees and GST. Single tickets for Beyond the Stage shows will be available for purchase August 1, 2018.
