LGBT Pride and Prejudice-Inspired Play Hits The Kingston Fringe Today

Made in August LLC's inaugural production is a world premiere of the play Suspicious Activity, an LGBT adaptation of Jane Austen's famous novel Pride and Prejudice.

The project is a collaboration between several Columbia University Theatre Program graduate students, including playwright Tabia Lau (Playwriting '15) and actress Lauren Maykut (Acting '16), and has grown to include many other artists from around Toronto. Our team also consists of Toronto actresses Leah Sutton and Crissy Voinov, director Ceilidh Wood, stage manager Hanna Edwards, and set designer Jan Venus.

Jess believes in her job as a humble patrol officer, while her roommate Tennessee just wants a job. Any job. Their friend Winona thinks she's solved the Problem of the Millennial with hard work, and can't wait until she's 50 and retired in Florida. These friends' lives and friendships are shaken, however, when they encounter the mysterious and sexy Mary, who above all else, believes in fate. Suspicious Activity ends with an exciting game of beer pong which determines one of two possible endings for the play. Join us at Venue 1 to see what fate has in store for you!

The play is one of three out-of-town production companies that have been invited to present at the Kingston Fringe Festival this summer in July, at Venue 1.
