Harley Dog Productions to Present MO AND JESS KILL SUSIE at Toronto International Fringe Fest, 7/3-13

Harley Dog Productions Presents MO AND JESS KILL SUSIE, an intense all-female hostage drama by award winning playwright Gary Henderson. The show is presented as part of the 2013 Toronto International Fringe Festival TRINITY ST PAUL'S CHURCH (BASEMENT) 427 Bloor St West. JULY 3RD-13TH, 2013 @ 7:30PM/ SATURDAYS @ 1:30& 7:30

In the back room of a deserted building, three women wait. Two are armed and the third is their bound and gagged captive who lies unconscious on the floor. The hostage, a policewoman, is the trump card in the tense face-off between protestors and armed police. They wait for the phone call that will either save or end their victim's life. Night and claustrophobia closes in around them and time starts to run out. Mo and Jess start a downward spiral of paranoid decisions about what to do with the hostage. The call does not come.

"What I love about this play, is that it features three, strong, powerful women," says director, Brenley Charkow. " This is an intense, thought provoking drama that doesn't deal with the stereotypical 'boy troubles'. These two protestors are at such a place of desperation that they kidnap and violently beat up a female police officer. They want change. They want to be heard."

Set in present day Ontario, MO AND JESS KILL SUSIE is more relevant than ever.

" This play questions whether change actually happens through peaceful protest, and how the situation of these women drove them to the extreme of kidnapping and violence," Charkow continues, "There are three amazing roles for these actresses to chew on, as well as a huge physical component of the piece. This play is not for the light of heart. The audience will definitely feel a part of the action and trapped in the room with these women as the events of the evening unfold."

MO AND JESS KILL SUSIE cast and creative consists of Canadian theatre and film Professionals. They include Jacklyn Francis (Stratford Festival, CanStage, STC, Theatre By the Bay); SIOBHAN RICHARDSON (Cahoots, Citadel, YPT); and KATIE MESSINA (The Listener, Being Erica).
