HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2 ON STAGE! 'Jumps' To Toronto's Centre for the Arts 3/13-3/15

Producer Jonathan Randall announced today that the brand new stage version of the hit Disney Channel movie Hight School Musical 2: On Stage will make its Canadian stage debut this March.  Performances begin Friday, March 13th and continue through to Sunday March 15th at the Toronto Centre for the Arts in the Studio Theatre (5040 Yonge Street) for a strictly limited engagement of 5 shows.

The record-breaking movie debuted on August 17, 2007 and was seen by 17.2 million viewers, making it the most-watched basic-cable telecast in history.  Over 3,500 licensed productions of High School Musical: On Stage, the first part in the series, have been produced in the United States and abroad making the title one of the most popular available from Disney.

A large scale professional tour was launched in 2007, playing 3 sold out weeks at Toronto's Princess of Wales Theatre, and repeated that success across North America and throughout the United Kingdom. The Disney on Ice version of High School Musical continues to fill arenas across North America.

High School Musical: On Stage follows the summertime adventures of Troy, Gabriella and the rest of the Wildcats as they work as staff members at the Lava Springs Country Club. The Wildcats are out to have the best summer of their lives, but Sharpay's secret plan to steal Troy away from Gabriella threatens to ruin their plans. The stage version features all the songs from the movie, including "What Time Is It", "You Are The Music In Me", "Gotta Go My Own Way" and "Bet On It", as well as some new additions and the un-aired "Humuhumunukunukuapua'a".

In addition to this phenomenal title, an added bonus will be the cast. "The goal of this production," says Jonathan Randall, lead producer of High School Musical: On Stage "is to showcase the best and brightest high school talent that Toronto has to offer." A casting search will begin the first week of January and will travel to local high schools with the goal of seeing as many students as possible.  Rehearsals will begin mid- January.
