Festival Place Presents Celtic Music in October

By:

Heather Rankin (October 14) and Julie Fowlis (October 18) are bringing sweet Celtic music to Festival Place this October.

After over twenty-five years of performing with her siblings, Heather Rankin comes into her own with A Fine Line, her debut solo record. This is Heather Rankin like you have never heard her before, breaking away from The Rankin Family's Signature Sound, and forging her own musical legacy with her poetic, intimate original songs, and an eclectic mix of others.

In her first Alberta appearance, Julie Fowlis is a multi-award winning Scottish-Gaelic singer who is deeply influenced by her early upbringing on the Outer Hebridean island of North Uist. With a career spanning ten years and four studio albums, her 'crystalline' and 'intoxicating' vocals have enchanted audiences around the world. You will recognize her beautiful voice scoring the adventures of Disney's Celtic princess hero in Brave.

Nominated as 'Folk Singer of the Year' at the 2015 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, and 'Best Artist' at the Songlines World Music Awards 2015, Julie is a warm and engaging live performer who has graced stages around the world, from village halls in the Highlands to stages in New York, The Philharmonie de Paris and Shakespeare's Globe in London.

Festival Place continues to be Alberta's #1 Presenter of Professional Artists. The 2017/2018 season showcased an eclectic mix of over 80 incredibly talented performers. The 2018/2019 season carries on the same ambitious standard of entertainment, with over 50 performances already scheduled between September 2018 and April 2019, with new shows added throughout the year.
