Review: Second City's CLICK BAIT & SWITCH is a Guaranteed Great Night Out

By:

CLICK BAIT & SWITCH, the latest mainstage revue at The Second City is a downright hilarious take of the ridiculousness of the current digital age we live in. Set against a backdrop of typical Internet click bait headlines, the cast of top-notch comedians perform sketch performances that are sure to choke up a laugh. The quirky memes and absurd content that fill the Internet are just a launching pad for this hilarious night of comedy.

The cast is comprised of Becky Johnson, Kirsten Rasmussen, Kevin Whalen, Etan Muskat, Kyle Dooley and Leigh Cameron who all provide stellar performances. Throughout the evening, the six take on different roles, impersonations and outrageous characters and never fell short of perfection. The chemistry between the cast members makes it look like they've been performing together for years. Based on the quality of work seen, it is undeniable that these six will be stars.

The women of the cast stole the show, each bringing dynamic energy and perfect comedic timing to every sketch. Becky Johnson, a new addition to the mainstage ensemble was a standout performer.

The beauty of the show is not knowing what is coming next. The twists, turns, and surprises keep you on edge and ready for more. Without giving away too much, expect to be serenaded by a pie, witness the birth of a monarch butterfly and learn the do's and don'ts of a job interview. The roughly two-hour performance flew by and left the audience wanting more.

Luckily, after the performance the cast treated the audience to some after hours improv. After taking some suggestions and hits from the crowd, the six showed us how it's done. It was an excellent way to end off an already amazing evening.

What are you doing? Get off the Internet and go see CLICK BAIT & SWITCH!
