Billy Elliot, the inspiring 2008 Tony Award Winning Best Musical by Elton John and Lee Hall, based off of the movie of the same title is coming to the Mississauga high school stage at Cawthra Park Secondary School, and it couldn't be any better!

Billy Elliot follows the story of a young boy, Billy Elliot (Aiden McConnell) in North Eastern England who wants to pursue a dream of ballet dancing over the boxing ring, during the 1984-1985 UK Country Miners strike in County Durham. With the training of his ballet teacher, Mrs.Wilkinson (Evelyn Cudmore), the unconditional love of his best friend Michael (Scott Oxholm) and Grandmother (Emily Adamson), and the eventual support of his working class strikeman Father (Seth Subeck) and Brother (Shane Watson), Billy is on the path to success, and learns to express himself against all odds , and even in a time of utmost hardship and poverty, there can be a little bit of hope and light in the world. Everyone can find a little piece of themselves in this show, young or old, and will make you laugh, cry, and truly appreciate what you are seeing.

The creative team composed of Stacey Tiller (Director), Joyce Wilson (Musical Director), Andrew Jones (Band Conductor), Rachel Lutes (Choreographer), and Nadia Tonkovic (Stage Manager) help transform this heart warming musical into a spectacular masterpiece for the high school stage. They ensure everyone is as prepared as they can be to ensure their visions come to life, and with the huge, and talented cast , create a working atmosphere of support and professionalism that is wonderful to see happening on the high school stage.

The production is still in rehearsals, but from what has been marvelously put together so far, the show cannot be any less amazing than it already is before it hits the big stage. This cast is working incredibly hard to give the best show possible and hey are doing no less than that. The electrifying numbers, the soulful ballads, and the brilliant acting are all what makes Billy Elliot the success it is and the Cawthra Park cast exceeds those expectation to create a show you do not want to miss!

Tickets go on sale starting November 15th and performances run from November 30th-December 2nd at 7:00 pm. Don't miss out on watching these kids give you the old razzle dazzle and shine!
