TARZAN to Swing Onto the Kelrik Stage, 2/16-3/10

By:

From the Masters of family entertainment who brought you CATS and WILLY WONKA, Kelrik Productions will present the Central Coast Premiere production of the Disney musical, TARZAN, playing from February 16 - March 10.

"I am very excited that Kelrik is the first to stage this new version of Disney's musical, TARZANin our area. Our audiences will delight in a unique production," says Director Erik Austin "TARZAN is not only a great adventure story, but also a beautiful story of family, love and acceptance. The exciting music by Phil Collins sets a jungle beat and will make it the must see show for audiences of all ages!"

TARZAN tells the classic tale of a shipwreck that leaves an infant boy orphaned on the shores of West Africa. The helpless baby is adopted and raised by the mate of the leader of a tribe of gorillas who is grieving the loss of her baby. As Tarzan grows and matures, he yearns for acceptance from his ape father and to discover the reason for his uniqueness. Eventually he encounters his first human - Jane Porter, a curious young explorer - and both of their worlds are transformed. TARZANfeatures music and lyrics by pop icon Phil Collins, including the Grammy and Oscar winning song "You'll Be in My Heart", and book by Tony Award-winning playwright, David Henry Hwang.

The cast of 21 performerswill be led by Cody Pettit as Tarzan. Cody will be joined onstage by Tabby Skanes playing Jane Porter. Also featured in TARZAN will be Evan Camacho (Clayton), Phil Epstein (Kerchak), Danielle Mendoza (Terk), Chloe Davis (Kala), and Nolan Pugh (Professor Porter). Local children Sacha Carlson will play Young Tarzan and Casina Caradonna will play Young Terk.

TARZAN will be Directed by Erik Austin and Sandy Scwarer with Musical Direction by Lacey McNamara. The creative team also includes Ryan Manus (Lighting Designer), Kathleen Forster (Costume Designer) and Keith Wetzel of Costume Capers (Costumer)
