POOF! - A Magical Musical Comedy Opens at Santa Paula Theater Center

A young boy with growing pains, bored with his seemingly mundane life, seeks adventure and excitement and finds it when he discovers POOF! - the thing inside a magician's hat that makes the magic happen. Along the way, he encounters an evil wizard and his beleaguered apprentice, two magic rabbits who never met a pun they didn't like and an unemployed princess. POOF! will be presented on the Backstage at Santa Paula Theater Center, 125 South 7th Street, Santa Paula, from April 10 - 26, 2015.

Backstage at SPTC, a black-box theater space more well-known for edgy original works, ventures outside the (black) box with this fast-paced original magical musical comedy that is part pop-rock musical theater and part vaudevillian comedy - with a pop-culture flair that makes it enjoyable for adults and children alike.

Poof! features a book by Lewis Hauser & Kenny Michelson, Music & Lyrics by Kenny Michelson, Direction by John Dantona and Ronnie Sperling, Musical Direction by Edward Archer and Choreography by Tori Cusack. It is presented by Leticia Mattson and Mr. Write Productions in association with The Michelson Project. POOF! features Jared Price, Patrick Batiste, Jennifer Ridgway, Alia Martinez, Randal Rankin and Madison Snow. Friday and Saturday evening shows are at 7:00 p.m. with Sunday matinées at 2:30 p.m. A special "Pay What You Can" performance is slated for Thursday, April 16th with no performance on Saturday, April 18th.
