Free Screening And Q & A Announced for THE CAT THAT CHANGED AMERICA ImageIn a special screening and Q & A presented by the City of Thousand Oaks and the office of Supervisor Linda Parks, The Cat That Changed America will be shown at the Scherr Forum on Monday, December 18, 2017 at 7:00 pm. This event is free and open to the public.

The Cat That Changed America is a documentary film about P-22, the most famous mountain lion in the world. P-22 took up residence in Griffith Park, right in the heart of Los Angeles. He was born in the Santa Monica Mountains and crossed two of the busiest freeways in America, the 405 and the 101, before he settled in the park. Yet he is now trapped, hemmed in by the freeways and the urban sprawl, with little chance of ever finding a mate.

The documentary explores his plight and the development of the wildlife crossing over the 101 Freeway at Liberty Canyon in Los Angeles. Angelenos and local conservationists alike are battling to help P-22 and all the mountain lions of the Santa Monica Mountains, as they try to raise $50 million for the wildlife corridor, while educating the public about the importance of the big cats and the danger to them from rodenticides in the food chain.

After the screening of the film a Q & A panel will take place with Beth Pratt-Bergstrom (SAVE LA COUGARS, National Wildlife Federation) and Joel and Kian Schulman (Poison Free Malibu).

Tickets to this event are free. Limited seating. For more information call 805-449-ARTS (2787) or visit www.civicartsplaza.com.
