Wolfgang Muthspiel to Perform in Sydney This August

On Tuesday 9 August, renowned jazz master Wolfgang Muthspiel returns to Sydney for one night only, performing with his celebrated collaborators in the Wolfgang Muthspiel Trio, proudly presented by City Recital Hall.

Muthspiel last captivated Sydney audiences in 2014 with his collaboration with Slava Grigoryan and Ralph Towner. Acclaimed by media worldwide, Wolfgang Muthspiel has commanded global attention for his daring musicality and dazzling technique. With over 30 albums under his belt, Muthspiel is widely regarded as a musical genius among his contemporaries.

In this concert, Muthspiel will perform alongside the hippest rhythm section on the scene, bassist Larry Grenadier and drummer Brian Blade. The musical bios of Grenadier and Blade read like a who's who of top class talent having recorded and played with greats such as Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Pat Metheny, Herbie Hancock, Stan Getz and Norah Jones.

Together, the trio are unparalleled masters of improvisation. Their live and recorded works boast an extraordinary blend of gentle power and subtle, shifting moments in which each musician drops a fresh dose of magic into an ever building wave of jazz cool.
