Sydney Premiere of DOLORES Set for Old Fitz

Growing up in a blue-collar family in Rhode Island, sisters Dolores and Sandra both dreamt of a life more meaningful, far from the home they grew up in. Now adults, both women are dependent on men and both are vulnerable. Sandra has settled for security within the safety of domesticity, whereas Dolores has used her sexuality as currency in the pursuit of a more exciting life. On an unexpected Sunday afternoon, both sisters share a moment of revelation. Dolores takes audiences on a journey that explores universal themes of family, love, relationships and resilience as well as the darker aspects of domestic violence.

Red Line Productions is thrilled to present the Sydney Premiere of Edward Allan Baker's brutally dark comedy Dolores, a one hour American tour de force, as part of the Old Fitz Theatre 'Late Show' season. Dolores stars Kate Box (Black Balloon, Paper Giants: Birth of Cleo, Rake, The Little Death) in the titular role and Janine Watson (Dangerous Liaisons, The Dream, Picking up at Auschwitz) as Sandra.

Edward Allan Baker is a published and frequently produced playwright/screenwriter with more than 30 plays to his credit. Dolores has found great success internationally after first premiering at New York's Ensemble Studio Theatre in 1986 who later presented Baker with 'The 25th Anniversary Award for Theatrical Excellence'.
