Short+Sweet Announces Week Two Lineup

Week two - with 10 short plays nightly - features Tiger, by NZ writer Robert Gilbert.
Two siblings at the mercy of their dominating father. Jessica Phoebe Knox directs Paris Change and Hannah Moy in this play dedicated to survivors of DV.

Joy Roberts' Untouchable is a moving and surprisingly uplifting story of love, sex and terminal illness. Sophie is ill and Ben is by her side; but can he offer her all that she needs? Glen Pead directs Eliza St John and Matt Blake.

Manor of Speaking by Pheona Mulligan is a Downton Abbey tale - with a twist! As the hired help compete for the upper hand, something sinister is unfolding at Lady Cassie's manor! Brinley Meyer directs Claudene Shoesmith, Bretton Reis and Chris Broadbent in this period piece parody!

Bad Shitty Things is Jorie Licett's solo tour-de-force: Lily has her parole but can she stay of the bottle? One minute you're up, the next you're down... way down. Based on a true story.

Social Horror play Registered by Daniel Hurewitz (US) paints a startling picture of a world where protest and freedom turn to fear and insecurity in the era of Trump. Matt Taylor directs Krichelle Rummeny, Anthony King and Michael Giglio.

In the Wildcards section (weekend matinees), Jim Searle's Charity Bin features
Alison Chambers and Lizzie Rose McPherson directed by Jo Kadlecek. "When a desperate young woman drops of a bundle to the Salvos, her world collides with a woman sleeping rough. Together they encounter the miracle of grace and boobs."

Petal by Marko Mustac is a powerful story of a father's revenge against the abusers and killers of his daughter. Valwyn McMonigal directs James Sugrue, Fucundo Herrera and Christina Kinley.

Finally, rising star Louise Reily directs US playwright Michael Strang's 5th Short+Sweet play Which Goldberg? With an all-star cast of Liz Hovey, Joanna Weinberg and Simon Lenthen, this delightful short comedy is set in a Jewish funeral home.

Short+Sweet Theatre opens at the Tom Mann Theatre, 136 Chalmers St, Surry Hills on 1 Feb and runs through February and March with both a Top 80 (weekly, Thur-Sat 7.30pm, Sun 6.30pm) and separate Wildcards program (Sat 3.30pm, Sun 2.30pm throughout February).

Short+Sweet Film kicks in too each Monday night from March! The gala finals take place in April.
