Returning to the Ensemble Theatre after its sell-out season last year, POP UP CABARET, is an intimate series of music, conversation and song by three of Sydney's best-known cabaret performers.

Queenie Van De Zandt, Mitchell Butel and Todd McKenney will be at Ensemble in August and September.

We are delighted to have these three outstanding, award-winning performers for our second POP UP CABARET event, following the success of last year's cabaret season says Ensemble Theatre's Artistic Director, Mark Kilmurry.

Following rave reviews and sell-out performances at the Queensland and Melbourne Cabaret Festivals and the Hayes Theatre in Sydney, theatre star Queenie van de Zandt, renowned for her artful storytelling and raw emotive vocals, brings the songs, stories and art of the music legend Joni Mitchell to the Ensemble Theatre. In her early career Joni Mitchell gave up a daughter for adoption and her music was so influenced by that experience. In Blue: The Songs of Joni Mitchell, Queenie takes us through Joni Mitchell's life, losses and loves, revealing the stories behind some of her most haunting songs such as A Case of You, Both Sides Now and Little Green.

Four time Helpmann Award-winning Mitchell Butel will sing a set of signature songs by Tony Bennett, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and more. Although he grew up in Sydney surrounded by surfers and footballers, Mitchell Butel spent his teenage years dreaming of being a Las Vegas crooner like his heroes Tony Bennett, Mel Torme, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr and Frank Sinatra. Croon Tunes will honour those singers Butel loved as he was growing up.

Todd McKenney's The Casting Couch will be at Ensemble in September for a performance featuring songs, stories and surprises. Two of his guests include Nancye Hayes and his Mum, Peta McKenney. Todd McKenney is best known for his 11 years as a judge on Channel 7's DANCING WITH THE STARS and his stellar performance as Peter Allen in the original Australian production of THE BOY FROM OZ. He has over thirty musical theatre credits to his name and is a Patron of Ensemble Theatre.
