Mitchell Butel Sings Signature Songs Of Tony Bennett, Dean Martin And Frank Sinatra at Ensemble Theatre

Four-time Helpmann Award-winner and actor, director and singer, Mitchell Butel will be at Ensemble Theatre for three nights only to sing a set of signature songs by Tony Bennett, Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra.

Mitchell Butel, who grew up near Sydney's Maroubra Beach, was surrounded by surfers and footballers, yet, Butel spent his teenage years dreaming of being a Las Vegas crooner like his heroes Tony Bennett, Mel Torme, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr and Frank Sinatra. He will perform at Ensemble Theatre late August as part of its popular Cabaret Series.

Mitchell holds four Helpmann Awards, two Green Room Awards and two Sydney Theatre Awards as an actor/director.

He has worked for STC, Belvoir, Bell Shakespeare, MTC, QTC, STCSA, ATYP, Bell Shakespeare, Griffin, Malthouse, Opera Australia, The Production Company and the Sydney, Adelaide and Perth Festivals. Mitchell's directing credits include the Hayes/Blue Saint production of VIOLET (Sydney Theatre Award for Best Director of a Musical), SPRING AWAKENING for ATYP (Sydney Theatre Award for Best Production for Young People), APPROXIMATE BALANCE for Griffin, AN ACT OF GOD (Darlinghurst Theatre - co-director), PORGY AND BESS, THE BERNSTEIN SONGBOOK for the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and MARJORIE PRIME for Ensemble Theatre.
