Greg Fleet returns to the Adelaide Fringe in 2017 with his latest play Signifying Nothing, a modern take on the Macbeth tale, set in the world of Australian politics. Signifying Nothing will play in The Studio at Holden Street Theatres previewing 14, 15 February opening 16 February and playing through to 19 March.

A mash-up of the original Shakespeare, together with the somewhat arrogant scribing of Greg Fleet (too daft or blinded by ambition to know his literary place) Signifying Nothing is the story of Paul and Lainey MacBeth (Greg Fleet and Nicola Barlett) who are the ultimate Liberal Party power couple, stopping at nothing in their pursuit of power - ambitious, ruthless and willing to risk everything for something more.

Words and function. Drive and irreversible deeds. In the end the difference between a flower and a weed, a stain and a masterpiece, is all about perception. Looks can kill, and the Macbeths are looking very good.

In an imagined Australia where The Republic is approaching like a train, the teflon Macbeth couple switch left and right like a heavyweight boxer, moving from local politics and then on, on to perhaps the highest office in the land, 'killing' their real and perceived opposition as they go.

Begun with the best of intentions and fired by the culture, desires and need of their constituents, a dynasty is formed, but it is built with fury and raised on ever-shifting sands.

Written, co-directed and starring Greg Fleet who also wrote the Blue Room Award-winning This Is Not A Love Song and the hit memoir These Things Happen; Signifying Nothing features two actors on stage with a large support cast who appear on screens around the theatre featuring a who's who of Australian theatre, film and television, including Roz Hammond, Lawrence Mooney, Luke Hewitt and Caitlyn Beresford-Ord.

Hammond Fleet Productions' previous works include the sell-out seasons of These Things Happen at Fringe World (Perth), Adelaide Fringe Festival and Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2016 (winning Best Theatre at Adelaide Fringe), plus This is Not a Love Song at Gasworks in 2016, as well as Library Author Talks Roz Hammond in conversation with Greg Fleet discussing hit memoir These Things Happen.
