Creative City Sydney's Cabaret stage provides the perfect home for ROB MILLS is ... 'SURPRISINGLY GOOD,' presented as part of the Hayes Theatre Co's 2015 cabaret season, Tuesday 23 & Wednesday 24 June.
An irreverent look at the guy behind an extraordinary career, this show is much more than the standard cabaret fare. "Rob Mills is ... Surprisingly Good" is an eclectic mix of music and stories in an intimate setting with a cracking band and the self-deprecating humour that we have learned to associate with 'Millsy'.
Musically, the show is as unpredictable as him, covering artists as far reaching as Taylor Swift, Gavin DeGraw and Coldplay, as well as hits from a few musicals in which he has (and hasn't, but wishes he had) appeared; 'The Last Five Years', 'Avenue Q', and of course, 'Wicked'.
Despite proving himself in the world of pop music, television and music theatre, Rob has amassed twelve years of reviews that revolve around the notion that 'considering we know him as that down to earth larrikin from Idol... his performance was surprisingly good'...
This show is proof that these two things are no longer mutually exclusive. In this, his first one man show, Rob reveals he can be both the cheeky personality who has charmed the nation on TV, as well as the skilled actor/singer he has proven to be through his extensive music theatre career.

Hayes Theatre Co is a dedicated music theatre and cabaret venue in Potts Point. Named for Australian musical theatre legend, Nancye Hayes OAM, Hayes Theatre Co honours and builds on the vast history of Australian Musical Theatre and its practitioners. This not-for-profit venue is managed by Independent Music Theatre, a collaborative partnership focusing on providing a permanent home for small-scale musical theatre and cabaret. By providing venue space to newly mounted productions, Hayes Theatre Co, will be a presenting partner together with independent producers and artists.
