The Theatre Program + Performance Media Program offers many opportunities for students to work on-stage, backstage and front-of-house through classes, independent studies, internships, and practicum work. Students also showcase their talents in full-length major productions, one-acts, original plays and staged readings. Students can also join an active Drama Society, DTM Club and Film Club. The Theatre Program + Performance Media Program is housed in Eastern’s beautiful Fine Arts Instructional Center, which opened in January 2016. The new building features a Proscenium Thrust Theatre, a Studio Theatre with flexible seating, performance/dance labs, and state-of-the-art classrooms. Performances in other sites throughout the campus and on tour are offered as well. Touring opportunities include the NYC Showcase of Student Talent in New York City; the Los Angeles Spring Break Program; the Prague Quadrennial program. The Theatre Program + Performance Media Program also has guest artist residencies built into it each semester.

Ben Neill to Present FANTINI FUTURO in NYC This Week

On Thursday, November 10, 2022 at 7pm, composer and instrumentalist Ben Neill will present his immersive electronic opera Fantini Futuro at Basilica of St. Patrick's Old Cathedral, located at 261 Mott Street in New York. This one night only performance also acts as the premiere of the opera's full presentation, as well as a benefit for restoring the church's historic organs.

Ms. Stroud has been on faculty at the Martha Graham School, the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center, SUNY Purchase and the University of Hartford. She was a Principal Soloist with the Martha Graham Dance Company for eleven years. She has danced with the Metropolitan Opera Ballet, the road company of Your Arms Too Short to Box with God, the Universal Studios film production of The Wiz, and as a guest artist with Katherine Dunham and the Gemini Dance Company.

The University of Saint Joseph's acclaimed 5X5 Dance Festival brings together choreographers, performers, educators, and students to study, perform, and, of course, celebrate the multifaceted art of dance. Artists, students, and audiences share their experience, talent, and inspiration through master classes, workshops, discussions, and performances. The 17th Annual 5X5 Dance Festival performances and master classes will be held in the University of Saint Joseph's Autorino Center in West Hartford, Conn. on Saturday, Nov. 2, with a showcase performance at 7:30 p.m. Pre-show, site-specific performances will occur in the Bruyette Athenaeum starting at 7 p.m.
