Upstream's SWEET REVENGE Opens 10/6 Image

A castle now in disrepair...

Its lands long parceled out to heirs...

A boundary wall in sharp dispute...

A squabble grown into a feud...

Men marked by jealousy and spite...

Will love suffice to set things right?

If you've quibbled with your neighbor

You will find here much to savor.

And if you haven't-good for you!

We're sure that you'll enjoy it, too.

Upstream Theater presents SWEET REVENGE. Written by Aleksander Fredro. New Translation by Philip Boehm

Considered the finest Polish comedy ever written, this 19th century verse drama uses Molière-like wit to poke fun of human follies. Upstream takes the hijinks to another level by presenting the play as performed by an actual amateur St. Louis Polish immigrant theater troupe from the 1930s.

A sympathetic satire with a focus on tolerance.

Featuring: John Bratkowski*, John Contini*, Eric Conners*, Caitlin Mickey*, Jane Paradise*, Whit Reichert*, Peter Winfrey

*member AEA

Directed by: Philip Boehm, set by Patrick Huber, costumes by Laura Hanson, lighting by Steve Carmichal
