In My Father's Dragon, young Jim is restless at home on summer vacation. There's just nothing to do. But his mother knows something that's certain to entertain him: the story of his Grandpa's thrilling adventure to rescue a captive dragon!

Join Jim for a fantastic jungle journey past great obstacles and really wild animals, as the intrepid explorer must use his ingenuity to outwit the magical beast's captors. My Father's Dragon helps young audience members discover the importance of perserverance and the wonderful power of imagination.

Presented in a family-friendly 45-minute "squirm-free" format, My Father's Dragon will delight the entire family!

Plan to arrive early, where you'll be greeted in the lobby by volunteers from The Rep and enjoy pre-show activities beginning one hour prior to each scheduled performance.

The cast of My Father's Dragon is Amanda Williford as Jim and Elmer; Katie Consamus as Mom, Mouse, Tiger and Gorilla; Briston Ashe as Cat, Tiger, Rhino, Lion and Dragon; and Chauncy Thomas as Captain and Wild Boar.

My Father's Dragon is directed by Bruce Longworth, with musical direction by Neal Richardson. The creative staff includes Lou Bird, scenic and costume designer, and Eric Barnes, stage manager. Marsha Coplon is The Rep's director of education. Jeffery Matthews is the artistic supervisor of the Imaginary Theatre Company.

Live theatre is a one-of-a-kind experience that blends entertainment and education. For more than three decades, The Rep's Imaginary Theatre Company has introduced children of all ages to classic works of literature, extraordinary people, history-making events, the artistry of theatre and, most importantly, the joy of creative thinking and lively discussion.

The original scripts that The Rep commissions for ITC are rich in language, action-packed and alive with vivid characters and stimulating thoughts and ideas. As The Rep's traveling ambassadors, ITC specializes in bringing the excitement of live, professional theatre to young audiences in local and rural communities throughout Missouri, Southern Illinois and the regional Midwest, performing in theatres, schools, community centers, hospitals-virtually anywhere there is an audience ready to have an adventure.
