The Rep Announces THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG

The Play That Goes Wrong will close The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis' 2018-2019 Mainstage season.

With high-wire hijinks that include a rapidly disintegrating set and grievous onstage miscues, it's a disaster, calamity and fiasco for the ages. Written by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields of Mischief Theatre Company, this wickedly funny play-within-a-play is currently one of the hottest tickets on Broadway and in London.

The play will run March 13 - April 7, 2019 at The Rep, with a production that is certain to bring the house down.

Producing this play is a major coup for The Rep - this will be the show's American regional theatre premiere.

"We're excited to bring the hilarious mayhem of The Play That Goes Wrong to our stage," said Steven Woolf, The Rep's Augustin Family Artistic Director. "It's been one of the funniest, best-received plays on Broadway and in London, and we can't wait to show St. Louis why."

The Berges Family Foundation will sponsor The Rep's production of The Play That Goes Wrong.

It's the capper on The Rep's previously announced 52nd season, which now has directors attached to each title.

Rob Ruggiero will direct Evita (Sept. 5-30)

Timothy Near will direct A Doll's House, Part 2 (Oct. 10 - Nov. 4)

Seth Gordon will direct A Christmas Story (Nov. 28 - Dec. 23)

Paul Mason Barnes will direct Alabama Story (Jan. 2-27, 2019)

Steven Woolf will direct Oslo (Feb. 6 - March 3, 2019)

Edward Stern will direct The Play That Goes Wrong (March 13 -
April 7, 2019)

Current six-show Mainstage Rep subscribers can renew their subscription at repstl.org or by calling the Box Office at 314-968-4925. New subscribers can also purchase subscriptions online or by calling the Box Office.

Subscription prices range from $103 to $513, with discounts available for seniors and students. Patrons can also build their own subscriptions by purchasing tickets for three, four or five Mainstage shows at subscriber rates.

Single tickets for Evita will go on sale July 18, followed by single tickets for the rest of the season in August.

Show times are Tuesdays, selected Wednesdays and selected Sundays at 7 p.m.; Thursdays, Fridays and selected Saturdays at 8 p.m. Matinee performances are selected Wednesdays at 1:30 p.m., Saturdays at 4 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.
