Stages St. Louis Announces Local Audition Dates for 2012 Season

STAGES ST. LOUIS, the region's foremost not-for-profit musical theatre company will produce its 26th Season in 2012 and will be holding local auditions in St. Louis for adult talent January 25, 26, 27 and 28 and child talent February 17, 18 and 19. The 2012 Season includesAin't Misbehavin', The Sound of Music, My One and Only and the Theatre for Young Audience production of Disney's The Jungle Book.

Adult Auditions

Wednesday, January 25 through Saturday, January 28, 2012 STAGES Artistic Director, Michael Hamilton will hold adult auditions, by appointment only, at the Kirkwood Civic Center located at 111 S. Geyer Road, 3rd Floor, St. Louis, MO, 63122. Appointments can be made by calling 314.809.0846 M-F 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., beginning January 16.

Wednesday, January 25 – Equity appointments begin at 11:00 a.m.

Thursday, January 26 – Open appointments begin at 10:00 a.m.

Friday, January 27 – Open appointments begin at 10:00 a.m.

Saturday, January 28 – Open dance call.

Women at 10:00 a.m. (Sign-ups begin at 9:00 a.m.); Men at 3:00 p.m. (Sign-ups begin at 2:00 p.m.).

All performers must be at least 18 years or older and bring a photo and resume. Be prepared to sing a MAXIMUM of 32 bars. You may prepare two contrasting pieces, but may not be asked to sing more than one, together they may not exceed the maximum 32 bars. No lead sheets; no transposition. An accompanist will be provided. Songs from the current season are fine. Open dance call auditionees should be ready to dance first and will sing only if asked. Bring tap, jazz, and character shoes.

Children Auditions

Friday, February 17 through Sunday, February 19, 2012STAGES Artistic Director, Michael Hamilton, will hold open auditions for children at theKirkwood Civic Center located at 111 S. Geyer Road, 3rd Floor, St. Louis, MO, 63122 for the children roles in Disney's The Jungle Book andThe Sound of Music. STAGES will be seeking boys for the roles of Mowgli in Disney's The Jungle Book and Fredrick and Kurt in The Sound of Music. Boys should be ages 10 – 14 at the time of the audition and no taller than 5'4" tall. Voices MUST be unchanged. STAGES will also be seeking girls for the roles of Shanti in Disney's The Jungle Book and Louisa, Brigitta, Marta and Gretl in The Sound of Music. Girls should be ages 6 – 15 at the time of the auditions. Girls may be no taller than 5'2". Auditions will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Friday, February 17 – Sign in from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Auditions from 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Saturday, February 18 – Sign in from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Auditions from 11:30 – 3:00 p.m.

Sunday, February 19 – Callbacks for children
If chosen for a callback, the child MUST be able to attend the Sunday audition.

Please come prepared with 16 bars of music – no transposition or lead sheets allowed. There is no pre-recorded music or singing a cappella allowed.

The roles of Rolf and Liesl in The Sound of Music will be cast at the adult auditions.
