Open Book Theatre Company Presents INDEPENDENCE

By:

Open Book Theatre Company has announced the third play in its Inaugural Season. Independence, by Lee Blessing, will open February 27th and run for 6 performances.

The play is a powerful, disturbing study of a family divided against itself. In the small town of Independence, Iowa, Evelyn Briggs might be losing her mind. As her three very different daughters attempt to come together to make a family decision, each must find their own independence.

The show features Wendy Katz Hiller as Evelyn Briggs, with Krista Schafer Ewbank , Dani Cochrane, and Katie Terpstra as her daughters. Direction by Topher Alan Payne, lighting design by Harley Miah, sound design by Brandy Joe Plambeck, set design by Krista Schafer Ewbank.

Open Book is also encouraging participation in the Open BOOK CLUB, designed for lovers of the written word to see a play not just as a performance, but as literature. Dive deeper and discuss character, plot and more with downloadable book club questions available on the website (openbooktc.com) - great for groups that just see the play or go deeper by reading it first! The matinee performance on Sunday March 1st will be followed by a discussion with the artists, and is a great opportunity for book clubs.

Performance Schedule:
Friday Feb 27 @ 8pm
Saturday Feb 28 @ 8pm
Sunday March 1 @ 2pm (followed by a discussion with the artists)
Thursday March 5 @ 8pm
