Jacob had 12 sons. Joseph, one of the 12 brothers, was Jacob’s favorite. The brothers were jealous of Joseph, who was bright and intelligent, and could also read dreams. When Jacob sells the 11 brothers’ sheep to buy Joseph’s beautiful technicolor coat, the brothers are blinded by jealousy, and sell Joseph as a slave to the passing-by merchant Ishmael. The brothers then tell their father that Joseph has died.
Joseph is sold as a slave to the wealthy Egyptian Potiphar. Although he gains trust from his master, he ends up being set up in a trap by Potiphar’s wife and thrown in jail. In jail, Joseph interprets the strange dreams of his fellow prisoners Pharaoh’s baker and butler, and is taken to Pharaoh to interpret his strange dreams.
