Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival presents MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING 8/15-27 ImageThe 2017 Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival (NDSF) Professional Company will present Much Ado About Nothing from August 15-27 in the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center's PaTricia George Decio Theatre on campus at the University of Notre Dame. NDSF Ryan Producing Artistic Director has assembled a creative dream team for this year's production, including Director Drew Fracher, returning for a second season since his acclaimed production of The Winter's Tale in 2015.

Fracher's vision of Much Ado sets the comedy in the U.S.A. during the 1940s when big band music was in full swing. Cheryl Turski (Choreographer) and Scotty Arnold (Composer/Music Director) are the dynamic duo behind the jumping, jiving party scenes and live music performed by an all-female live big band. Actors Angela Ingersoll (Beatrice), Cameron Knight (Benedick), Kiah Stern (Hero), and Brandon Tyler (Claudio) are joined by over a dozen other artists to tell the story of this high-kicking splash of a time.

Additional events are slated during the run to illuminate the journey of this artistic explosion of swing dancing, live music, rich language, and colorful prints: For those who want to see the costumes and set pieces close up, on August 2nd, audiences can be one of only 50 guests to meet director Drew Fracher for "Explore Much Ado About Nothing" where audience members tour "beyond the stage" to chat with Fracher and other members of the design and production team. Next, on August 7th, Angela Ingersoll takes the stage with a piano, an accompanist, and her captivating presence and poise for a one-night special Cabaret performance of favorite tunes of the 1930's and 1940's, from Ingersoll's extensive repertoire as Judy Garland and other musical classics.

Much Ado About Nothing, August 15-27, 2017; Tue-Sat at 7:30pm, Sat/Sun at 2:00pm (Tue 8/15 and Wed 8/16 are preview performances; Thu 8/17 is the season gala)
