FNB to Present DIE SKEPPING – 'N ORATORIUM at State Theatre * Artscape Opera Houses this Fall
FNB presents, DIE SKEPPING - 'N ORATORIUM, composed by the music-legend Janine Neethling and words by Deon Opperman. This production has captured audiences earlier this year in the Pretoria State Theatre and has received a standing ovation. It is the first Afrikaans oratorium ever hosted in South Africa.
Due to the overwhelming response from the public, FNB decided to present this captivating show again in Pretoria as well as taking it to Cape Town. It will play at the State Theatre Opera House on August 17 and 18, then at the Artscape Opera House on August 31 and September 1.
Besides a complete orchestra, (The Johnnesburg Music Initiative), choirsong by the world renowed Akustika choir, and the solosists, Magdalene Minnaar (soprano), Minette du Toit-Pearce (mezzo-soprano), Barend van der Westhuizen (bas) and Cobus Venter (tenor), this production is also a visual feast of images, created by the Capetonian visual artist, Wessel Albertse. It is not often that so many huge names are mentioned in one single production in South Africa - which proves that is an absolute must see.
The acclaimed critic, Paul Boekooi has described DIE SKEPPING as "...a production that overwhelms the senses and this is exactly what audiences prefer: a show."
FNB has a proud history of supporting South African art. "We are proud to be a part of the second season of DIE SKEPPING - 'N ORATORIUM's sponsorship. DIE SKEPPING isn't just a production that entertains the audience, but also leaves them in awe and amazement by the amount of talent that is melted together in one production", says Bernice Samuels, FNB's Head of Marketing.
"As a proud South African bank, supporting DIE SKEPPING allows us to showcase all the talent our country has to offer as well as the different cultures. We invite everyone, old and young to come and enjoy this unique show," says Samuels.
DIE SKEPPING - 'N ORATORIUM is hosted in seven shows - GENESIS; EARTH; LIFE; MAN; HUMANITY; FAITH and ASCENSION- each adding its own uniqueness to the whole of the Oratorium.
