Washington Pavilion Announces New Daily Programs Kicking off in January 2018, new daily activities and programs will be offered at the Washington Pavilion. The new initiative will offer patrons an opportunity to further engage and interact with art and science in a variety of new and different ways.

President and CEO Darrin Smith, speaks to the need to enhance the community experience by bringing new focus on how the Washington Pavilion interacts and engages with its patrons.

"We look forward to unveiling a whole new set of daily activities for the public to enjoy. These programs will be ever-changing, with a variety of events for the whole family. It was important to us that we continue to broaden and enhance the opportunities for kids, families and individuals at the Washington Pavilion."

RoseAnn Hofland, Director of Programming and Education, adds: "Each week, the Pavilion will offer new themes which will be supported by hands-on activities and programs in the Kirby Science Discovery Center and the Visual Arts Center."

She continues, "By having our two museums collaborate and work together to create themes, activities and events, we will be offering the public so many new ways to experience and interact with visual arts and science."

Daily programs will include storytimes, art scavenger hunts, Stage Science workshops, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) Maker Lab and art studio activities along with featuring the Wells Fargo CineDome educational and mission films including "Amazon Adventure," "Journey to Space" and "Wild Africa." The programming will continue to grow and expand with new additions through the year.

In addition to the new programs, both museums will be offering new exhibitions throughout the year. Jason Folkerts, Director of Exhibitions and Collections, plans to attract touring exhibitions as well as work with community partners in creating new opportunities for patrons.

"The exhibitions will provide an interactive and educational experience that will be new and appealing to our members and the public alike. We think the public will come back week after week to learn or experience something new."

Washington Pavilion members can participate in all programs for free while regular Kirby Science Discovery Center and Visual Arts Center daily admission rates apply for non-members.
