Sioux Falls Mayor Mike Huether plans to watch the Total Solar Eclipse on Monday, August 21 at the Washington Pavilion. The public is invited to experience the eclipse at the Kirby Science Discovery Center. The eclipse will be visible across the United States and will reach its maximum viewing in our area at 1:01 p.m.

According to Washington Pavilion staff, Mayor Huether looks forward to "experiencing the event with fellow fans of science."

The public will be able to learn about the eclipse and outer space through hands-on activities and demonstrations. Eclipse viewing glasses are included with admission or membership for the day for the first 200 patrons. Weather permitting, attendees will enjoy seeing a solar eclipse from an outdoor location, when the moon covers over 90% of the sun's disk.
