Vineyard Theatre's production of Nicky Silver's play THIS DAY FORWARD, opening the Vineyard Theatre's 2016-2017 season began performances Thursday, November 3 and will open on Monday, November 21. THIS DAY FORWARD features Andrew Burnap (TROILUS AND CRESSIDA), Michael Crane (Vineyard's GLORIA and 'People of Earth'), Holley Fain ('Grey's Anatomy'), Francesca Faridany (THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME), Tony Award nominee June Gable (CANDIDE, 'Friends') and Joe Tippett (AIRLINE HIGHWAY). Just last night Vineyard Theatre presented its 2016 Gala honoring award-winning actress and Vineyard Board President Kathleen Chalfant and New York theatrical press agent Sam Rudy, hosted by Michael Urie and Ryan Spahn. On Wednesday afternoon, friends and family of Tony-nominated actress Kelli O'Hara gathered for an intimate luncheon at Lidia Bastianich's famed New York restaurant Becco. Jason Robert Brown, Steven Pasquale, Greg Naughton, and Lidia Bastianich herself raised a glass to O'Hara and her achievements this season in Bridges of Madison County. The Vineyard Theatre will present a one-night-only reading of Paula Vogel's Pulitzer Prize- winning play HOW I LEARNED TO DRIVE tonight, Monday, July 1st at 8:00 PM. Reuniting for the first time since its celebrated premiere at The Vineyard in 1997 will be the original company: Mary-Louise Parker as 'L'il Bit,' David Morse as 'Uncle Peck,' Johanna Day, Kerry O'Malley and Justin Hagan. The reading, staged by the production's original director, Mark Brokaw, will take place at The Vineyard Theatre, located at 108 E. 15 Street.

On Tuesday, October 9, Primary Stages (Executive Producer Casey Childs, Artistic Director Andrew Leynse, Managing Director Elliot Fox) continued their celebration of the Foote Family legacy at the opening night of HIM by Daisy Foote. This world-premiere production, the second of Primary Stages' 28th season, features Tony Award nominee Hallie Foote (Harrison, TX , Dividing the Estate) Tim Hopper (Present Laughter, The Dying Gaul, Steppenwolf), Adam LeFevre (The Doctor's Dilemma), and Adina Verson (The Winter's Tale at Yale Rep). Helmed by Obie Award-winning director Evan Yionoulis (Three Days of Rain, Violet Hour), HIM runs September 25 - October 28 at Primary Stages at 59E59 Theaters.

The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Interim Executive Director Joey Parnes) will begin previews for KING LEAR, directed by James Macdonald, on Tuesday, October 18. KING LEAR will run through Sunday, November 20 in The Public's Newman Theater with an official press opening on Tuesday, November 8.

Hamingson) announced today that the first preview of Craig Lucas' THE SINGING FOREST has been moved to Friday, April 10 due to the need for additional technical rehearsals. Directed by Mark Wing-Davey, THE SINGING FOREST was scheduled to begin previews on Tuesday, April 7 and open on Monday, April 27. The show will now open on Tuesday, April 28 at 7 PM.

The Vineyard Theatre (108 East 15th Street) will present the New York premiere of THIS BEAUTIFUL CITY, in a co-production with Los Angeles' Center Theatre Group, with previews set to begin February 3 prior to its official press opening February 22. Steven Cosson directs. Created by The Civilians, written by Steven Cosson and Jim Lewis, with music and lyrics by Michael Friedman, THIS BEAUTIFUL CITY is a provocative new play with music about the growth of the evangelical movement in Colorado Springs, created by the documentary theatre company The Civilians. THIS BEAUTIFUL CITY was created from interviews by Emily Ackerman, Marsha Stephanie Blake, Brad Heberlee, Stephen Plunkett, Alison Weller and the authors with actual persons over the course of 10 weeks in Colorado Springs. Every leading church in the area participated in the project, as did numerous civic organizations, progressive activists, and individuals from all walks of life.
