The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center has announced its 2023-24 season, which celebrates the passing of the artistic torch and the theme of Legacy, with the final farewell concerts of two esteemed American string quartets, both with long histories at CMS.

This fall, Boulevard Theatre raises the curtain once again (metaphorically speaking, yes!) at Plymouth Church with a nostalgic, noteworthy collaboration between Boulevard and Plymouth Chorale along with inspiration from Milwaukee Opera Theatre.  Artistic Director Mark Bucher produces an original production in the church sanctuary creating the charming and kitschy Where the Streetcar Bends the Corner, Down by the Zoo!

From May 17-­June 20, Boston opera lovers will have the unique opportunity to choose from four evening-­length programs encompassing nine diverse operatic works, including the Boston premiere of Vaughan Williams's Sir John in Love, a double bill of Walton's The Bear and Sullivan's The Zoo, five compelling monodramas, and Adès's masterpiece of modern cultural commentary, Powder Her Face. (See below for complete program details.)

The Finborough Theatre's acclaimed Celebrating British Music Theatre series continues with the first professional London production in over twenty years of Gilbert and Sullivan's Princess Ida opening at the Finborough Theatre for a four week limited season on Tuesday, 24 March 2015 (Press Night: Thursday, 26 March 2015 at 7.30pm).

On March 13 and 14 at 7:30pm, Utopia Opera presents an imaginative double bill: L'enfant et les sortilèges by Maurice Ravel (1875-1937) and The Zoo by Arthur Sullivan (1842-1900) in a fully-staged production performed with an 18-piece orchestra at the Ida K. Lang Recital Hall at Hunter College (695 Park Avenue). Utopia founder and artistic director, William Remmers, conducts L'enfant and directs both operas, while Jeremy Weissmann conducts The Zoo; both operas have costume styling by Eric Lamp.

The National Science Foundation has awarded a grant of $2,654,895 to the Balboa Park Cultural Partnership (Partnership) for phase 2 of the Art of Science Learning Initiative, a project entitled 'Integrating Informal STEM and Arts-Based Learning to Foster Innovation.' Harvey Seifter, Art of Science Learning founder/director, is the project's director and principal investigator. Paige Simpson, the Partnership's Interim Executive Director and Director of the Balboa Park Learning Institute, is project administrator.

CT Free Shakespeare is performing Romeo and Juliet outdoors in July and early August at destination venues in Fairfield County, Connecticut.

Gilbert's Eyes and No Eyes, Sullivan's The Zoo, and Gilbert & Sullivan's Trial by Jury to play Friday & Saturday, September 30 - October 1, 7:30 p.m., Sunday, October 2, 3 p.m., Friday & Saturday, October 14 - 15, 7:30 p.m., Sunday, October 16, 3 p.m. at Chute Auditorium (Chute School)
