Czech Marionettes Highlight Centennial Heritage Festival With New Works

From October 6 to 27 at the Upper East Side's Bohemian National Hall and Jan Hus Church, GOH Productions will present a Centennial Heritage Festival, featuring mainstage marionette theater productions for adults and kids and musical concerts for audiences of all ages. The festival celebrates two auspicious anniversaries: the Centennial Anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia (1918) and the Millennial Anniversary of the unification of the Lands of the Czech Crown, under Duke Oldrich (1018).

Guest conductor Jacques Lacombe will lead the CSO and guest cellist Zuill Bailey in Czech master Dvorak's cello concerto, not only the greatest work of its kind, but a masterpiece in its own right. Composed at the close of his three-year period in America, this large scale work aches with homesickness for his native Bohemia. The program also includes Cesar Franck's touching symphony in D minor, and Edvard Grieg's delectable Peer Gynt Suite.

Estos días se dan cita en nuestra ciudad el concierto de Rent El Musical en el Teatro Coliseum de Madrid y el estreno de Tick Tick...Boom! y por este motivo la directora Silvia Sanfeliu nos obsequia con este homenaje a Jonathan Larson, el desaparecido autor de ambos musicales.
