On Her Shoulders is pleased to present staged readings of three plays by Irish dramatist Teresa Deevy, directed by Kristin Heckler on Tuesday, November 20, 2018. BBC AMERICA will air Snatches: Moments From Women's Lives, a short film series featuring an all-female line-up of actors and writers, in the current events time slot on Sunday, November 4 at 9:00 am ET.  Snatches: Moments From Women's Lives airs in partnership with Jezebel and features an introduction by Jezebel Editor-in-Chief Julianne Escobedo Shepherd.

Jack Thorne, the Tony Award-winning book writer of the new Broadway musical, has written the Introduction to a new edition of the Edgar Wallace and Merian C. There's just something about Kristin Chenoweth. Actors Co-op Theatre Company (Ovation Award-Winner 2017 Best Play, Intimate Theatre for 33 Variations) presents the first show in its 27th Season with the thriller ROPE, written by Patrick Hamilton, directed by Ken Sawyer, produced by Kevin Shewey.  ROPE will preview on Thursday, September 20 at 8pm and will open Friday, September 21 at 8pm and run through Sunday, October 29 at the Actors Co-op Crossley Theatre, 1760 N. Built in 1913 as the flagship for the big time vaudeville circuit run by E.F. Albee and Martin Beck, manager of the Western Vaudeville Managers Association, the Palace was the perfect showplace for the biggest of big time vaudeville during the last two decades of its existence.

The Actors Fund announced today that tickets are now on sale for a special screening of the original 1933 film King Kong, in partnership with the Jacob Burns Film Center (JBFC) as part of their ongoing film series, 'Life on the Stage: Conversation and Film.' The screening will be followed by a Q&A with members of the creative team of the upcoming Broadway musical

For the past several summers, I have attended the Festival of Arts and The Pageant of the Masters in Laguna Beach. But this year, I also decided to also visit two other art festivals along Laguna Canyon Road rather than spend any time cruising the town as I had done before. The full-day of exploring all the artistic delights on display this year at all three locations left me dazzled by all the talent on display, while wishing I had lot of extra income to purchase and bring home many of the awe-inspiring items that caught my fancy. But the real highlight of the day was viewing the abundance of 'local color' on display in this summer's 'Under the Sun' themed Pageant of the Masters.

San Francisco Opera announces updated casting for its 96th Season, which opens Friday, September 7, with the double bill of Pietro Mascagni's Cavalleria Rusticana and Ruggero Leoncavallo's Pagliacci, and two galas, Opera Ball 2018: ¡Viva La Noche! and the BRAVO! CLUB Opening Night Gala. The 2018-19 Season features eight productions that are new to the War Memorial Opera House stage, including a new staging of Giacomo Puccini's Tosca and the West Coast premiere of Jake Heggie's It's a Wonderful Life. Highlights also include Placido Domingo in Concert on October 21 and a roster of returning artists, debuting soloists and conductors.

The Philadelphia Young Pianists' Academy (PYPA) will be celebrating its sixth year as an international event from August 5 through August 12, 2018. They are inaugurating a new home for the experience at the prestigious Academy of Vocal Arts located at 1920 Spruce St in Philadelphia. There will be eight days of concerts by world-class pianists, master classes by some of the most highly respected pianists and professors and student concerts. Founder Ching-Yun Hu is pleased to expand the program this year with more concerts and a speaker series.

Goodman Theatre announces a line-up of free staged readings written by members of its Playwrights Unit-a year-long residency for Chicago-based writers to develop their plays-in-progress with the Goodman's artistic team, in partnership with Chicago Dramatists. Members of the 2017/2018 Playwrights Unit include Sam Collier, Ricardo Gamboa, Isaac Gomez, Kristin Idaszak and Nigel O'Hearn. On June 25, The Resident Acting Company (www.racnyc.org), a new troupe drawn from the performing ensemble of The Pearl Theatre Company, will present a staged reading of 'The Big Night' (1928) by humorist Dawn Powell, a harsh, biting comedy about a woman whose husband has been fired from an advertising agency.  The play was the author's masterpiece but failed on Broadway in a production of The Group Theatre. The version to be offered is a restoration by Michael Sexton from the author's original notes and drafts.  It retains some of the Group Theatre's 'improvements' but includes the author's original ending.  The reading will be at 7:00 PM at The Players Club, 16 Gramercy Park South, directed by Bradford Cover, Artistic Director of the troupe.

Austin's four premier nonprofit performing arts organizations-Austin Opera, Ballet Austin, The Paramount Theatre, and ZACH Theatre-have partnered to create the ATX Arts Pass. The 2018-19 ATX Arts Pass gives a taste of Austin's performing arts organizations at one low price with four hand-picked performances: Shinyribs (The Paramount Theatre), The Nutcracker (Ballet Austin), Hedwig and the Angry Inch (ZACH Theatre), and La boheme (Austin Opera). ATX Arts Pass holders are encouraged to have their passport stamped at all four events, allowing them the opportunity to attend a special Passport Holder Season End Celebration.

Folks Operetta's 2018 season kicks off with Emmerich Kalman's operetta The Csardas Princess, July 7 - 22, playing at Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont Ave. The Csardas Princess features the book written by Leo Stein and Bela Jenbach with music by Emmerich Kalman and an English translation by Hersh Glagov and Gerald Frantzen. The Folks Operetta version is directed by Gerald Frantzen and conducted by Mark Taylor. Opening night is Saturday, July 7 at 7:30 p.m. The regular performance schedule is Thursdays - Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are $40 for adults, $35 for seniors (65 years and older) and $25 for students (with student ID).

On Wednesday, May 16, Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts (PTPA) unveiled its brand new Watchfire LED marquee, installed by Going Sign & Servicing Company Inc. of Plainview, N.Y., with a special lighting ceremony that was a part of the nonprofit performing arts organization's  20th anniversary celebration.
