Peninsula Players Theatre, America's oldest professional resident summer theater and Door County's theatrical icon, is thrilled to announce its 81st season performing June 14 through October 16, 2016. Nestled along Door County, Wisconsin's scenic shore, the award-winning acting company of Peninsula Players has been enthralling generations of audiences in its 600-plus seat, all-weather pavilion since 1935, presenting hundreds of pre-Broadway tryouts, world premieres, classic dramas, comedies and musicals.

'Eric Bentley's Brecht-Eisler Songbook,' the debut CD from soprano actress Karyn Levitt, will be available from Roven Records today, October 30.

PICNIC, the 1953 Pulitzer Prize-winning play by William Inge about sexual repression, longing and disillusionment, and the narrow-minded limitations of life in a small Midwestern town, launches Palm Beach Dramaworks' 2015-2016 season on Friday, October 9 (8pm) at the Don & Ann Brown Theatre. Performances continue through November 8, with specially priced previews tonight and tomorrow, October 7 and 8.

Today, Wednesday, April 15, NYC Parks celebrates the 100th anniversary of the unveiling of the lovely Straus Memorial in Straus Park on Manhattan's Upper West Side. Open to the public 100 years ago, the monument memorializes Isador and Ida Straus who went down on the Titanic, three years to the day in 1912. The beloved monument was created by sculptor Augustus Lukeman (1872-1935) and architect Evarts Tracy, and was dedicated on April 15, 1915.

Following a record-breaking 2014-15 season, Hillbarn Theatre, the Peninsula's premier community theatre company, announced last night the six productions that will comprise the lineup for its 75th Anniversary season, 'Dare to Dream.'

VOICEBOX: Opera in Concert enters the new year with Kurt Weill's STREET SCENE, an unblinking look at tenement life in New York City circa 1946, based on Elmer Rice's play of the same name, with lyrics by Langston Hughes. This production marks the Canadian Premiere of Weill's landmark American Opera and continues the company's exploration of operatic social comment in the 20th Century, begun so memorably in November with de Falla's LA VIDA BREVE starring Isabel Bayrakdarian.

Broadway fans had plenty of reasons to celebrate this year, with dozens of shows having opened since January, hundreds of actors having made their debuts, and many more having returned to the stage for critically acclaimed performances. New Worlds Theatre Project (Ellen Perecman, Producing Artistic Director) has announced that it will present Peretz Hirshbein's Yiddish play, On the Other Side of the River, in a world premiere translation, beginning tonight, November 29 at 7pm at HERE, 145 Sixth Avenue. The opening night is set for Thursday, December 4. On the Other Side of the River runs through Sunday, December 21.
