MILWAUKEE, WIS. 10/30/2014 – The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra presents Michelle DeYoungon November 21-22, 2014 at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts. Led by guest conductor Asher Fisch, the performances feature Schumann's Symphony No. 2, Berg's Seven Early Songs, and Strauss's Tod und Verklärung (Death and Transfiguration) with mezzo-soprano Michelle DeYoung.
Both concerts include Meet the Music, a free, interactive pre-concert discussion held one hour prior to concert start time in Uihlein Hall on Friday and in Anello Atrium on Saturday. Friday's performance offers a post-concert Meet the Artist Luncheon in the Bradley Pavilion.

From today, October 21 to November 8, August Strindberg Repertory will transport Strindberg's 'Miss Julie' to an antebellum Louisiana plantation in a new interpretation conceived by Artistic Director Robert Greer and adapted by Edgar Chisholm from a translation by Greer. The production will include a ballet sequence, which Strindberg specified in the original manuscript and which has never been performed before. The piece will be directed by Robert Greer and choreographed by Ja' Malik.

Maestro Arild Remmereit and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) present a program of Tchaikovsky and Mozart tonight, October 18 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, October 19 at 3 p.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. The concert includes Tchaikovsky's rarely heard Symphony No. 3, 'Polish,' Mozart's Flute Concerto in G Major, performed by BSO Principal Flute Emily Skala, and the BSO premiere of 19th century female composer Elfrida Andree's Concert Overture in D Major. New York Deaf Theater, the longest running company of its kind in New York City, under the Artistic Direction of James W. Guido, will celebrate its 35th anniversary season with a new spin on Robert Louis Stevenson's classic tale, THE STRANGE CASE OF DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE. Adapted by Noah Smith, the production is told in American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English for deaf and hearing audiences. Previews begin on Friday, November 7th at the June Havoc Theatre (Abingdon Theatre Arts Complex - 1st floor). The official opening is on Tuesday, November 11th at 7:30PM. This original one-act pop musical aims high and often hits its mark although it may not be the musical you think it's going to be. While it contains a fair amount of wry humor, don't expect the kind of silliness you found in The Pokemusical, the team's entry into last year's Fringe Festival. This twist on the Frankenstein story has a more sophisticated harmonic structure and a richer musical texture that gives it an added edge.

Proudly celebrating the dedication, artistry and extraordinary talent of its young musicians, Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra (PSYO) presents the 2013-14 Concerto Competition winners in its season finale concert this Mother's Day! Under the guidance of Music Director Alejandro Gutiérrez, PSYO is being quickly recognized as one of the most outstanding youth orchestras in the country. The premier training ensemble in Orange County, PSYO draws musicians of the highest caliber from across Southern California—five of whom have been chosen to perform as soloists in this concert. Cellist Matthew Gustafson from Long Beach, tuba player David Freeman from Corona, violinist Sydney Mariano from Irvine and flutists Ramakrishnan Kumaran from Hemet and Gloria Liu from Irvine are highlighted in concertos by Haydn, Vaughan Williams and Lalo, as well as Borne's “Carmen Fantasy.” To conclude, the Youth Orchestra performs Tchaikovsky's stunning Fifth Symphony.

The Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) today announced the date, creative team and an exciting new venue for the 35th anniversary of the Dora Mavor Moore Awards which celebrate extraordinary Toronto talent in the performing arts. The award ceremony will take place on June 23 and, for the very first time, will be held at Harbourfront Centre. The new outdoor venue will offer additional seating for this consistently sold-out event under the stars at the WestJet Stage, a 1,300-seat outdoor concert venue covered by a transparent roof with open sides.
