MINNEAPOLIS (July 29, 2016) – Minnesota Opera today announced that Head of Music Robert Ainsley has accepted the position as the new Director of the Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Program and the American Opera Initiative, effective next month. For the last three years, Rob has served as the Head of Music Staff, Chorus Master and Coach at Minnesota Opera and Opera Theatre of Saint Louis. He has worked on several world premiere and American operas at both companies, including Minnesota Opera's The Dream of Valentino, The Manchurian Candidate and The Shining.

ALS.net announced today that its 14th annual Tri-State Trek charity cycling event will take place between Today, June 24 and Sunday, June 26. The Tri-State Trek is a three-day, 270-mile bicycle ride from Boston, MA to Greenwich, CT with all proceeds benefiting ALS.net and the research it funds directly at the ALS Therapy Development Institute in Cambridge, MA. Last year, the Tri-State Trek had more than 250 participants and raised over $800,000 for ALS research.

JAW 2016 Playwrights Announced; Free Public Readings to be Held in July

?Three scripts have been selected from more than 175 submissions to be featured in Portland Center Stage's 18th annual festival for new work development, JAW: A Playwrights Festival. Playwright Kevin Artigue will develop The Forcings, a magic realism-infused play that stares unflinchingly at a family in crisis and a civilization barreling toward extinction; Mia Chung will develop Catch as Catch Can, a story exploring the shifting roles we play in the presence of family; and Nathan Dame will develop The Saints, a funny and poignant journey of a young woman making her way back to hope. To add to the excitement of this year's JAW festivities, PCS will also workshop two of the world premiere productions that are slated for its 2016-2017 season: Wild and Reckless, a new musical event from Blitzen Trapper; and Lauren Weedman Doesn't Live Here Anymore by Lauren Weedman (The People's Republic of Portland, 2013 and 2015).

For over 50 years, she pushed the limits of choreographic movement, changing modern dance forever. At 79, Trisha Brown has choreographed her last dances. In celebration of her life's work, Trisha Brown Dance Company returns to the choreographer's home state to perform the final performances of her works for the proscenium stage as part of a retrospective presented by University of Washington's World Series at Meany Hall.

Second Stage Theatre's 37th Anniversary Gala celebration will honor Producer DAVID STONE, celebrating his ongoing 12 year relationship with the Off-Broadway Company.  The evening's Honorary Chair is James M. Although this saucy look at travelers on a Mediterranean cruise opened on Broadway in 1961 and the West End in 1962, it has never been fully staged on the West Coast, until now.

Seattle-based actor and director Matt Wolfe recently took the reigns as artistic director for SHOWTUNES Theatre Company. His first full day of work was Monday October 5, 2015 and he is knee-deep in preparations for the start of the expanded three-show 2015-2016 Season.
