New Hampshire Theatre Project kicks off their 27th season with Hot Mama Mahatma, written and performed by Karen Fitzgerald, the actress formerly known as Karen Abrami.  Karen graced Seacoast stages for 15 years, in dozens of lead roles with some of the area's top actors, before heading south to New York City in 2004.  While there, she wrote Hot Mama Mahatma, a comedy about her post divorce adventures. The tagline? "She went to India to get enlightened but got turned on instead!" Besides playing to sold out audiences, Hot Mama Mahatma won the Producer's Award at the Midtown International Theatre Festival in Manhattan.

The Old Globe's presentation of Kiss Me, Kate, the classic musical comedy featuring a book by Sam and Bella Spewack and an iconic score by Cole Porter, begins tonight, July 1, on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center.

Producing Artistic Director Chuck Tobin today announced the July 1st opening of Jeffrey Hatcher's area premiere adaptation of Wait Until Dark, written by Frederick Knott at Saint Michael's Playhouse (tonight, July 1 - 11). Directed by Sarah Carleton the cast features Abby Lee as Susan, John D. Alexander as Roat, Christian Kohn as Mike, Bill Carmichael as Carlino, David Rossetti as Sam, and introducing Jillian Kenny as Gloria.

The Old Globe presents William Shakespeare's delightful and romantic Twelfth Night, directed by Rebecca Taichman, whose production of the time-traveling Time and the Conways fascinated audiences last April, as part of the 2015 Summer Shakespeare Festival. The Old Globe engagement runs through July 26, 2015, with opening night tonight, June 27 at 8:00 p.m., in the Lowell Davies Festival Theatre.

From the producers of NIRBHAYA, The Exonerated, Guantanamo and Sarah Jones' Bridge & Tunnel, Culture Project along with Rosie O'Donnell will present the world premiere of MotherStruck written and performed by Staceyann Chin and directed by Cynthia Nixon, beginning Thursday, September 24th, 2015 at Culture Project's Lynn Redgrave Theater.   Opening Night is set for Wednesday, October 7th.

Reagle Music Theatre of Greater Boston will open its 47th consecutive summer season with the Broadway favorite, Guys and Dolls, from today, June 11-21, 2015 at the Robinson Theatre (617 Lexington St. Waltham, MA, 02452).

Happy Birthday, Harvey Fierstein! In addition to Torch Song Trilogy, La Cage aux Folles and A Catered Affair, Fierstein's Broadway acting credits include playing the mother, Edna Turnblad in Hairspray (2002), for which he won a Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Musical. He later replaced Alfred Molina as Tevye in the 2004 revival of Fiddler on the Roof. Fierstein returned to the theatre when he toured as Tevye, replacing Chaim Topol in Fiddler on the Roof starting in December 2009. On February 15, 2011, he replaced Douglas Hodge as Albin/Zaza in the Broadway revival of La Cage aux Folles playing opposite Christopher Sieber. He is nominated for a 2012 Tony Award for the book of Newsies.

The 69th Annual Tony Awards are this Sunday June 7th at 8/9c hosted by Kristin Chenoweth and Alan Cumming. It's the biggest award show of the Broadway season and it closes out a long award season for Broadway and Off-Broadway musicals and plays. Shaw's romantic comedy, which continues the Globe's 80th Anniversary festivities as part of the Balboa Park Centennial Celebration, will run May 9 - June 14, 2015 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. On Friday, May 1st and Saturday, May 2nd four of Orlando's best performers will unite for 'A Journey Through LOVE: A Progressive Cabaret.' Produced by the Squeaky Wheel Theatre Project and hosted by Master Class Academy, this first of its kind cabaret experience will feature three different cabaret acts, in three unique rooms, each chronicling the highs and lows of different stages of being in (or out of) love.

Producers Jeffrey Richards, Jerry Frankel, and Jam Theatricals just announced that five-time Tony Award-nominee and Drama Desk & Outer Critics Circle Award winner Danny Burstein (Cabaret, Golden Boy, Follies, South Pacific) will step into the iconic role of Tevye when Fiddler on the Roofbegins performances on Broadway on November 17, 2015.
