Segerstrom Center for the Arts begins its 30th Anniversary celebration with another one-night-only star-studded evening of dance: Tour de Force III. The performance will be the first event to represent the array and diversity of the Center's artistic programming, in this case, 30 years of presenting the greatest ballet companies and the world's most celebrated dancers. Tour de Force III will be on Saturday, August 27 in Segerstrom Hall. Produced in collaboration with Ardani Artists, the program will include four Center premieres: Clay by Vladimir Varnava, Zeitgeist by Alastair Marriott, Tristesse by Marcelo Gomes and Le Divertissement du Roi by Maxim Petrov. The international cast includes Diana Vishneva, Joaquin de Luz, Marcelo Gomes, Denis Matvienko, Marcelino Sambe?, Friedemann Vogel and Edward Watson, as well as members of the The Royal Ballet, Mariinsky Ballet and the National Ballet of Canada.

Double Platinum selling artist Newton Faulkner joins the cast of Green Day's explosive Tony Award ® winning musical, American Idiot, on it's UK Tour. Newton will be taking on the role of Johnny from May 2016 after Matt Thorpe, who will open the role from 19 March at the Curve Theatre, Leicester until 7 May at the New Theatre, Oxford.  One of the UK's finest contemporary singer-songwriters, Newton's unique style of guitar playing and soaring vocals have made him a worldwide success since he burst onto the music scene back in 2007. 

Thrilling theater and unforgettable music -- that's what audiences can expect from Seattle Opera's 2016/17 Season. The company today announced the operas next up at Marion Oliver McCaw Hall. They include: The Wicked Adventures of Count Ory, Hansel & Gretel, La traviata, Katya Kabanova and The Magic Flute.

Encores! Artistic Director Jack Viertel today announced the creative teams for New York City Center's 2016 Encores! season. J. Bernard Calloway, Chuck Cooper, Marva Hicks, Carly Hughes, LaChanze, Norm Lewis, Forrest McClendon, and J.D. Webster will star in Vernon Duke and John Latouche's jazz?filled fable Cabin in the Sky, running for seven performances at City Center from February 10-14. The 1940 musical will be directed by Tony Award winner Ruben Santiago?Hudson with choreography by Camille A. Brown.

Halloween's all done in, there are still three weeks ahead before we officially give thanks, and Christmas - and all its accompanying frenzy and frivolity - is about seven weeks away! Theater companies all over middle Tennessee are showing off their best and brightest, with a number of eagerly anticipated shows opening this weekend and/or continuing from their earlier opening nights and next Tuesday there's a sparkling new Broadway musical swinging through Music City to entertain you…

Called “A Christmas tale from a faraway Land of Snow and Ice” by New York Times Dance Critic Brian Seibert in 2014, Moscow Ballet's principal dancers and production values keep raising the ante for a performance experience that engage audiences of all ages in small towns to top demographic markets. Award-winning principal dancers Ekaterina Bortiakova and Akzhol Mussakhanov, hailing from one of the world's best ballet academies, deliver flawless performances.  “Bortiakova's technical prowess, especially in her footwork and turns, was…truly great,” Cleveland Plain Dealer, 2014, and “Moscow Ballet's four-star performance…takes it up a notch and inspires awe,” Minneapolis Twin Cities Daily Planet, 2014. New in 2015 are set designs by Art Directors' Guild multi-award winner Carl Sprague, who has worked in the art department of more than 30 films, with a combined total of 22 Oscar wins, including best picture for “12 Years a Slave” and best production design for 'The Grand Budapest Hotel'. In addition Russian theatrical design meets American technology skill in Act I's Party Scene in the new magical Grandfather Clock. John Creech, American Prop Master for over a generation, is credited for creations from extravagant Fashion Week run-ways to ballet and Broadway stages. The 10 foot tall magical clock features a sculpted 3 ft tall owl whose wings open to a 5ft span and eyes light up as the clock strikes. Russian Designer Valentin Fedorov, of Chibaksari Opera House and graduate of Bolshoi Theater Design School, created Moscow Ballet's fanciful 10” tall animal puppets, backdrops with 3-d effect and more. New costumes for Act I designed by Resident Designer Arthur Oliver, known for his work nationally and at Shakespeare & Company, are created by hand in St Petersburg by one of the world's oldest theatrical shops.  Moscow Ballet's Christmas production of the Great Russian Nutcracker will be in New York City at Kings Theater Saturday December 5, 3:00pmmatinee. Bucks County Playhouse producers Robyn Goodman and Alexander Fraser just announced the 2nd Annual Oscar Hammerstein Festival -- named in honor of the master lyricist who wrote some of America's most beloved and recognizable musicals at his family farm in Bucks County.

The Old Globe's presentation of Kiss Me, Kate, the classic musical comedy featuring a book by Sam and Bella Spewack and an iconic score by Cole Porter, begins tonight, July 1, on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center.

When one of the world's major opera houses announced its plans to present the best-known works of Broadway's Rodgers and Hammerstein over a five-season span, no one had reason to believe that the Lyric Opera of Chicago would present a 'Carousel' starring a slew of Broadway, television, opera and ballet stars alongside the cream of Chicago's theatrical and vocal talent (60 actors, singers and dancers in all), supported by an orchestra of 37 players, and all overseen by the same director and musical director who would bring 'The Sound of Music' and 'Peter Pan' to live television, Carrie Underwood, Christopher Walken and all.

Lyric Opera of Chicago's new production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Carousel runs tonight, April 10 to May 3 at the Civic Opera House (opening night April 11).

The New York Times writes that John Turturro will star in ZORBA! for Encores!, running May 6-10, 2015.

Academy Award winner Helen Mirren will return to Broadway this spring as Elizabeth II in Peter Morgan's The Audience, directed by two-time Tony Award winner Stephen Daldry. Words on Dance in association with Symphony Space, is proud to present an evening with CHRISTOPHER WHEELDON, featuring the internationally acclaimed choreographer and director in rarely seen television and film clips and a live conversation conducted by the Academy, Tony, Emmy, and Grammy Award-winning actress/singer/dancer RITA MORENO, April 27, 7:00 PM at Symphony Space, 95th Street and Broadway.

Lyric Opera of Chicago announced casting for the remaining principal roles in its new production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Carousel. Matthew Hydzik will portray Enoch Snow alongside Tony Award winner Jarrod Emick as Jigger Craigin, two-time Tony Award nominee Charlotte d'Amboise as Mrs. Mullin, and two-time Tony Award nominee Tony Roberts as the Starkeeper. Carousel will run April 10 to May 3 at the Civic Opera House (opening night April 11).
