With four Tony Awards and two Grammy Awards, the Juilliard-trained Audra McDonald returns to performing live full-time this month following four seasons playing Dr. Naomi Bennett on ABC's hit television series Private Practice.

A.R.T. American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) will present The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess, opening the A.R.T.'s 2011-2 season on August 117 at the Loeb Drama Center. The Gershwin's Porgy and Bess, by George Gershwin, DuBose and Dorothy Heyward, and Ira Gershwin, is adapted by Suzan-Lori Parks and Diedre Murray, and directed by A.R.T. Artistic Director Diane Paulus.

The Gallery Players opens its 45th season with the first New York City revival of The Little Dog Laughed this September. Patrick Vassel (Working, Chicago's Broadway Playhouse; War, Soho Playhouse) directs Douglas Carter Beane's biting showbiz comedy about identity and the desire for celebrity, opening Friday, September 10 at Brooklyn's The Gallery Players.

It is hard to find any theater-goer out there who isn't familiar with Frank Loesser and Jo Swerling's masterpiece of musical comedy, Guys and Dolls. Bustling with gamblers, gangsters and the 'dolls' who love them, the national tour of Guys and Dolls rolls the dice at Starlight Theatre for six performances on July 12-17. All shows start at 8 p.m. on Starlight's Jeannette and Jerome Cohen Community Stage.

Kate Baldwin will soon return to Arena Stage to play Marian in The Music Man in Spring 2012. The production will open May 11 and play through July 22 at Fichandler Stage in Mead Center for American Theatre. Additional casting has not yet been announced.
