PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT: THE MUSICAL is a jukebox musical adapted from Australian film director-writer Stephan Elliott's 1994 film The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. Adapted by Elliott and Allan Scott, the musical uses well-known pop and disco songs as the score. It tells the story of two drag queens and a transgender woman who make a trip from Sydney across the desert in a bus they name Priscilla to do a drag show in the resort town of Alice Springs in the Australian desert. Along the way, they encounter a slew of odd characters, homophobia and love in the most unexpected of places. The original production debuted in Australia at the Lyric Theatre, Sydney in October 2006. The Australian success of the show lead to a two-year West End production and finally the Bette Midler produced Broadway debut in 2011. On the Cusp Productions Presents REFLECTIONS OF A CAUSE as Part of Sydney Fringe
by Ashlee Latimer - Aug 7, 2016

How important are the decisions we make in our youth and what impact do they have on our future? If you can't find the answers to reality's questions in life look to some naturalist theatre.  REFLECTIONS OF A CAUSE is the second theatre show written by ambitious and insightful Sydney playwright Sage Godrei. Through a fractured narrative the story follows the lives of Johan and Ellie who meet as 14 year old teenagers in their home town Yackadandah. Using the fly on the wall technique the audience jumps between pivotal moments in their lives as a playful, young 14 year old couple in 1994 and as a seasoned 35 year old married couple in 2015. Sage Godrei pulls out the microscope to investigate whether life's obstacles will take a toll on Ellie and Johan's relationship, although they have been together since they were 14. REFLECTIONS OF A CAUSE questions Free Will, and the formal causes that effect our decision making processes such as family upbringing and cultural influences. The audience are offered the ability to be part of intimate moments in Ellie's and Johan's life through this experimental narrative structure. Human follies of broken dreams, substance abuse and the need to feel in control of the unknown are put under the lens.

BWW Review: Non-Equity BULLETS OVER BROADWAY National Tour Kills in Fun L.A. Premiere
by Michael L. Quintos - Jan 21, 2016

While certainly far from a perfect show (both in staging and execution), the bus-and-truck version of BULLETS OVER BROADWAY - THE MUSICAL---the quirky and highly-amusing stage musical adaptation of the 1994 big screen comedy penned by Woody Allen and Douglas McGrath---is nonetheless a supremely fun and engaging stage iteration had me in stitches for much of its two hilarious acts, which have been enhanced by lots of silly, old-fashioned antics and an array of surprisingly top-notch musical/acting performances from a solid, mostly young cast. I can honestly say that this production---now finishing up its Los Angeles premiere performances at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood through January 24---is quite possibly the most enjoyable non-equity first national tour I've watched in a long, long time---a wonderful surprise considering such enterprises have a long, contentious history of enticing lots of industry controversy and skepticism even before the curtain goes up.
