Actor-singer-dancer-choreographer Adam Fleming became a part of Broadway history originating the roles of Sketch in Hairspray and Lucas in Bare. In 2005, he starred in David Brind and Adam Salky's acclaimed short film, Dare, about two teenage boys' tense, spark-filled encounter in a pool following high school play practice. Dare gained a cult following as part of Strand Releasing's 'Boys Life' series and ultimately achieved worldwide popularity via more than 12 Million views on Youtube. The fan fervor (and fan fiction!) eventually inspired a sequel, ten years later. The original and the sequel are now being presented together as The Dare Project and attracting new legions of fans.

Audiences are getting ready to head to Skid Row this fall! As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Howard Ashman and Alan Menken's classic sci-fi musical Little Shop of Horrors is returning to New York at the Westside Theatre, with previews beginning September 17th and opening night set for October 17th. The production is set to run for a limited engagement through November 24th. An inspired choice of a show, the Hollywood Bowl has decided to present an effervescently buoyant new production of the Tony Award-winning 1986 musical INTO THE WOODS, Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's much beloved twisted take on traditional fairy tale stories mashed together with witty charm, tongue-tying lyrics, and gallows humor. May is Lower East Side History Month, and Queer|Art is the new kid on the LES block, having recently relocated their offices from Nolita to the East Village this past year. The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) today announced that David Foster, renowned musician, songwriter, composer, arranger and producer, will be recognized with the 2019 Humanitarian Award. The award honours Foster's lifelong dedication to philanthropy through his support of hundreds of charities, including his own non-profit organization, The David Foster Foundation, which raises organ donation awareness and provides financial support to Canadian families in need of life-saving transplants.

ShowKids Invitational Theatre had a pair of award winners at the 2018 NJACT Perry Awards Sunday night at the Union County Performing Arts Center (UCPAC) in Rahway. Cast members Natalie Mehl and Jonah Lione both earned best acting honors for their magical performances as Mary and Bert in SKIT's production of Mary Poppins.

This first-ever collaboration by the pair who have been partners for many years also marks the debut of the Joe Goode Performance Group venturing into producing and presenting outside artists. Girl is the drag-inflected culmination of Fauxnique and electronic musician Kate's longtime fascination with pairing intellectual rigor and critical theory to popular entertainment forms they adore-including music, contemporary dance and film-and letting fly with provocative and even thrilling results; among other elements and questions, Girl will deftly mine the "final girl" horror movie trope as an investigative tool, all as Halloween and the November mid-terms converge on the horizon.
