 Celebrated mezzo-soprano Julia Migenes (Diva on the Verge) returns to the Odyssey Theatre with her newest show, once again directed by Academy Award-nominated director Peter Medak. Julia Migenes Sings Kurt Weill opens at the Odyssey tonight, October 9.

Summer is on its way out, but Connecticut theaters are heating up with some exciting offerings this fall. Theater lovers have the best of both worlds here in the Nutmeg State: Broadway is just down the road, but we never even have to leave home to see exceptional theater thanks to the bevy of professional theaters that call Connecticut home too. This season looks particularly exciting and I'll share with you what I am most looking forward to reviewing this fall. There are other great shows scheduled this fall as well as through the 2016 season, but in the interest of space, I will concentrate on top picks for this fall.

Woodie King's National Black Touring Circuit's 2015 Black History Month Play Series will feature "Adam," the story of legendary Congressman Adam Clayton Powell, and a reading of Ossie Davis' seminal play "The People of Clarendon County" from February 8 - 22 in Harlem, Queens and the Bronx. The record features the special Hanukah-inspired track “Guys & Dolls & Bagels”: an inspired klezmer medley from the classic musical.

METROPOLITAN KLEZMER – hailed as “one of the finest American Klezmer Bands” by Songlines Magazine – will continue to celebrate the holiday with the release of their fifth CD MAZEL MEANS GOOD LUCK. The acclaimed octet will play selections from the new recording, called “one of the best albums of 2014” by New York Music Daily, at two upcoming concerts. Get into the holiday spirit with getTV this December, as the network delivers a loaded lineup of marathons, stunts, and festive favorites, headlined by the rarely-seen Christmas special HAPPY HOLIDAYS WITH BING AND FRANK.

While the Renaissance Players' mounting might be a little rough around the edges, there's still plenty to recommend the show if you're in need of some Christmas cheer.
