Signature Theatre

From a new team of writers comes a hard-edged, hard-boiled commentary on the American political machine. Part tabloid, part "The Manchurian Candidate," The Fix is a totally original biting satire ripped from the headlines of today, yesterday, and most likely tomorrow. A popular presidential candidate is dead, and his wife, who has power on the brain, thrusts her son into the political spotlight. Her maniacal scheming is matched by that of her crippled brother-in-law, who will stop at nothing to see the boy elected. Together, the three of them make up one of the most dysfunctional almost-first families this side of real life Washington politics.

'Couch Potato Politics': New Book Blends Pop-Culture Perceptions and Politics
by Robert Diamond - Dec 15, 2013

Isn't it amazing that the votes of the ignorant and those of the well-informed carry the same weight? Mark A. Prior, a Los Angeles stagehand by trade, considers the ramifications of that question and more in his book, "Couch Potato Politics: Why America Is Screwed Up And Why It's Our Own Damn Fault." Mr. Prior set out to examine the issues currently facing the United States and has essentially translated the heady world of American government and politics into a witty & biting primer for any Joe or Jill Citizen to easily understand. From the two-party system to gerrymandering to legalizing marijuana, Mark covers a cornucopia of topics but makes the argument for the United State's biggest problem - voter apathy. His contention is that the unwillingness of average citizens to educate themselves on the issues, or vote at all, is what has enabled unscrupulous political operators & special interest groups to feather their own nests at the tax-payers' expense. But instead of accepting this status quo, Mr. Prior optimistically reminds the reader that Americans have in their possession the exact tool needed to fix this problem. 'The power of the vote has not been diminished in the 237 years since the Constitution was written. Merely forgotten. The act of voting is a habit that should be practiced regularly and judiciously; it can be compared to the practice of eating well and exercising. To give up or even simply lessen these practices can and typically does compromise one's well-being.' - Couch Potato Politics. Mark A. Prior currently works as a stagehand and lighting technician for concerts & special events. The Georgia Southern University graduate received a Bachelors of Business Administration degree in 1998 and called the Peach State home for twenty years. Mr. Prior is also an aspiring screenwriter and has been living in Los Angeles since 2008.
