Two star-crossed lovers find themselves wrenched between two rival gangs in New York City's Upper West Side in this musical adaptation of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Featuring an iconic score by Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim that includes "America," "Maria," "Somewhere," "I Feel Pretty" and "Tonight," WEST SIDE STORY will also mark the 25th production of a Stephen Sondheim musical in Signature Theatre's history.
Spinning Tree Theatre in Kansas City announced their 2015-2016 season schedule, which includes two plays and two musicals. The season will premiere Spinning Trees first dance musical. The 2015-2016 season will open with Giuseppe Verdi's dark and tragic Rigoletto (September 26 - October 4, 2015), followed by the Canadian premiere of Oscar-nominated composer Nico Muhly's Dark Sisters, a thought-provoking exploration of polygamy in a renegade Mormon community (November 26 - December 12, 2015, at the Vancouver Playhouse Theatre). VO then presents Giacomo Puccini's heartbreakingly beautiful Madama Butterfly (March 5 - 13, 2016) and closes the season with a treat for lovers of musical theatre: the company premiere of Evita, by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber (April 30 - May 8, 2016).
Riverside Theatre's production of West Side Story has been extended for an additional eight performances. Originally scheduled to perform from tonight, February 17th to Sunday, March 8th, the production will now close on Sunday, March 15th.
