Westport Country Playhouse will present a community engagement initiative, "Money, Power, and Belief:  Reflections on 'The Invisible Hand'," July 17 through August 8. The series of events, free-of-charge and open to the public, will run concurrently with the Playhouse's production of the topical thriller, "The Invisible Hand," written by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Ayad Akhtar, and directed by David Kennedy, Playhouse associate artistic director.

WaterTower Theatre Producing Artistic Director and Loop Executive Producer Terry Martin today announced the line-up for the 2016 Out of the Loop Fringe Festival, February 25 - March 6, 2016, at the Addison Theatre Centre. Six world premieres highlight this year's diverse Festival as well as 2 one-woman cabarets, 4 dance works, 1 circus act, 3 solo shows, 1 musical reading, 2 play readings, 9 theatre productions, 1 interdisciplinary piece, 1 spoken word performance, a 24-hour play festival, and many returning favorites. The Festival is made possible, in part, through the generous support of The Town of Addison and the Texas Commission on the Arts as well as media sponsors, TheaterJones.com and the Dallas Observer. The Festival is produced by Terry Martin and Kelsey Leigh Ervi.

Teatro Paraguas continues its 12th season with Mike Batistick's 2006 play Port Authority Throw Down. Directed by Rick Vargas, the play is set in Fall 2003 at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York City, and focuses on the lives of two college-educated Pakistani immigrant brothers selling newspapers and driving a taxi to make ends meet.

The Oratorio Society of New York opens its 2015-16 season and Carnegie Hall subscription series on Monday, November 2, 2015, with a work that has become closely identified with its music director.  Kent Tritle led the U.S. premiere of Juraj Filas' Requiem, Oratio Spei (Prayer of Hope), at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola in 2011 (with a choir of 60 singers), and he conducted the work's debut recording, a project of the New York-based Harmony Foundation, in Prague with the Prague Symphony and Kuhn Mixed Choir in 2013.  On November 2, he leads the Oratorio Society in a performance of the work with soloists Susanna Phillips, soprano; Matthew Plenk, tenor; and John Moore, baritone.

Eastern Connecticut State University Performing Arts Department Theatre program will present two award-winning contemporary plays this Fall 2015 dealing with issues so prevalent and relevant that one might think these plays were written based upon the news in today's headlines. Simon Stephens' Pornography to be directed by David Pellegrini will run October 6-11, 2015 and Patrick Shanley's Doubt, A Parable to be directed by Alycia Bright-Holland will run October 27-November 1, 2015. Both shows will be presented Tuesday-Saturday at 7:30pm and Sunday at 4pm in Harry Hope Theatre (Shafer Hall, ground floor; corner of High and Valley Streets, Willimantic, CT).
