During the current pandemic, KPFK's Arts in Review, Southern California's longest-running radio showcase on live theater and cabaret, will be airing short plays, produced by local small theatrical stages. This week we will be airing excerpts from Ammunition Theatre Company's acclaimed The Giant Void in My Soul, written by Bernardo Cubria and directed by Felix Solis, with music by Arian Saleh. The cast includes Karla Mosley (Fool 1), Kim Hamilton (Fool 2), Claudia Doumit (Partner) and Liza Fernandez (co-worker/parent).

The Rose Art Museum Has Announced a Gift of 50 Important Works on Paper from Collector Stephen Salny

The Rose Art Museum has announced the gift of 50 works on paper from Baltimore-based collector Stephen Salny. This gift includes pieces by some of today's leading artists and significantly includes a number of works by Ellsworth Kelly, as well as pieces by Anni Albers, Josef Albers, Sonia Delaunay, Helen Frankenthaler, Damien Hirst, Jasper Johns, Alex Katz, Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Motherwell, Richard Serra, and Frank Stella. Many of the works enrich already existing clusters of work by the same artists while others are new to the Rose's permanent collection.

Segerstrom Center for the Arts Announces Casting for American Ballet Theatre's Production of THE NUTCRACKER

Segerstrom Center for the Arts has announced casting of 46 young dancers in American Ballet Theatre's production of The Nutcracker performed December 13 through 22 in Segerstrom Hall. Forty-two students from the American Ballet Theatre William J. Gillespie School at Segerstrom Center, plus four additional talented young dancers from Orange County, will perform alongside the world renowned ABT company, in this classic holiday show. Casting for American Ballet Theatre's The Nutcracker, co-presented by Segerstrom Center for the Arts and ABT, was announced today by Kevin McKenzie, ABT Artistic Director and Terry Dwyer, Segerstrom Center President. Choreographed by ABT Artist in Residence Alexei Ratmansky, The Nutcracker will be given 13 performances at Segerstrom Center for the Arts, December 7-17, 2017. Misty Copeland and Daniil Simkin will lead the opening night cast on December 7 dancing the roles of Clara, the Princess and Nutcracker, the Prince, respectively. Subsequent casts include Sarah Lane and Herman Cornejo, Gillian Murphy and James Whiteside, Stella Abrera and Alexandre Hammoudi, and Hee Seo and Cory Stearns in the leading roles.
