Theatre Producer Jack Thomas to Present 'A World of its Own' 10/23 - 31

Jack Thomas, currently a producer of the hit Off-Broadway play Freud's Last Session and Broadway's Colin Quinn Long Story Short, will be presenting an exhibition of painter Charlotte Lichtblau's paintings and drawings, beginning this Saturday, October 23rd at the 8th Floor Space, a private gallery located at 17 West 17th Street. The show, entitled A WORLD OF ITS OWN, runs through October 31st with admission daily from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. This exhibition is curated by Bruce Payne. TPS Honors Walker with Gregory A. Falls Award

Theatre Puget Sound (TPS) is pleased to announce the recipient of this year's Gregory A. Falls Sustained Achievement Award: M. Burke Walker. A freelance director in Manhattan since 1999, M. Burke Walker lived and worked in Seattle from 1966-1999. He was the Founding Artistic Director of the Empty Space Theatre which he led for twenty years. His regional directing credits include theaters throughout the United States; locally, in addition to the Empty Space Theater, he has worked with Seattle Repertory Theatre, Intiman Theatre, ACT Theatre, Tacoma Actors Guild, theatre simple and Seattle Shakespeare Festival (now Company). For a full bio, please see attached file. Mr. Walker will be honored at this year's Gregory Awards ceremony.

The toll on Scandinavian soldiers from peacekeeping--and the agony of popular indifference to their sacrifice--will be profound for American audiences to witness in 'Home Sweet Home,' an award-winning psychological drama by Danish playwright Andreas Garfield. The play was prominently recognized in Denmark's equivalent of the Tony Awards in 2007 and will be presented for its English Language and American premieres by Scandinavian American Theater Company (SATC) November 11 to 28 in the 9th Space at PS122. SATC is an emerging professional theater company that will be offering New York audiences daring and innovative works from Scandinavia's burgeoning theater scene. This one will be staged by Christoffer Berdal, who is currently one of Denmark's most sought-after directors.

Wood Street Galleries is proud to present the world premiere of 'Shortplayer,' a new composition by renowned artist and composer Jem Finer. 'Shortplayer' will be performed by Finer leading a group of Pittsburgh's finest musicians at 9:30 p.m. Friday, October 1 at Wood Street Galleries, immediately following the Downtown Gallery Crawl. ('Shortplayer' concert admission is $10/$8 students.) The performance marks the Pittsburgh launch of Finer's acclaimed artwork Longplayer, a 1,000-year-long composition that has played continuously since 1999, and which arrives in Pittsburgh as part of Wood Street Galleries' sound-installation show, Audio Space (Oct. 1-Dec. 31, 2010).
